but does it consider as a VIAS failure symptoms?

I noticed the CEL goes on when it bounces a little, is there a problem with the Intake installation?

BTW, what was that sound, was that someone laughing or was that the car

Watched Video

I watched the video and are you talking about when you are hitting 80mph and the rpm's climb really slowly???? It wouldn't make sense that it works all the way up until you reach 4th gear?

Watch when it almost reaches 90mph and hits around 4400RPM... Its very slight but the RPMs drop and start to climb again... Turn up your speakers and listen for the engine to change sounds. In real life it seems alot worse, you can feel the car slow down then accel.

Yeah I thought you just let the gas go or something, like you said. Hmmm.....but how would it work in first, second, and third? I am talking about the VIAS

I know, that's why I put the VIAS? in the title... I don't know what it is. Steve at Douglas Nissan of Orange said it could be the TSM but he said he's unsure.

I don't think that's a CEL... looks like a "windshield washer fluid low" light... fluid is slushing around under acceleration...

You sure it's not tranny slipping ? ... how's transmision fluid level/oil smells burnt ?

How do I check the transmission fluid... (Like how long to I let it cool down, etc).

I'll check the oil now. I'm pretty sure its fine.

Just threw the stock intake back in, only problem is I'm missing one of the little weird mushrrom things for the front scoop along with the screw that goes in it as well as the bolt that goes at the way bottom of the airbox... Anyone let me borrow theirs in Costa Mesa, Riverside, LA Area? heheheh

BTW, melteye I think you have to check tranny fluid on an auto with the engine running.

Can't be VIAS because it's only in 3rd... right? Another thing I noticed is that if I don't floor it it doesnt happen... Say I'm going 100 and slow down to 80 then go past 4400RPM in 3rd it goes smoothly...

I need help.

I say it has something to do with transmission.... it either slipping or TCM is goofing off.

If it was slipping why would the engine noise bog down?

Seriously - don't know maybe it was slipping until than and then stopped slipping providing more resistance to the engine and thus bogging down the engine. or maybe TCM is trying to lock-up the TC or something. Does it do the same thing always in the 4th(sure its not 3rd ?) gear or only after you raced through 1st three(two) gears... maybe the drive-by-wire trottle gets "tired" of reading full ?

I have the same exact problem!

When I gun it off the line (with the O/D off) first gear runs out nicely, second gear is fine but while my rpms are climbing in third
I'll see the needle falter for a bit before beginning to climb again slowly.

I've learned that to counter this problem (during a race), at the right moment(in third gear) I turn the O/D back on and the needle WILL NOT not falter but continues to climb.

If I race without turning
the O/D back at the right moment in the middle of third the needle wavers and then begins to climb again (but extremely slowly).

I thought it might be tranny slippage but I'm not too sure.

I'm sorry to ressurect an old thread but:
I'm now having the same problem. It only happens in third gear and under WOT the needle goes up to the 4400 rpm and then drops back and starts rising again. It's getting more and more apparent and I'm noticing and incredible loss of power. My trap speed are down like 3 mph and my average 1/4 ET is up form 15.4ish to 16ish

I'm thinking it's the tranny, gonna put everything back to stock and take it to a dealer

Melteye: Did you ever got that issue resolved ?

Anybody else is having the same problem

Maksim

Not fixed yet. I have to get my new rims on (im driving on a messed up rim AND a spare) and then I have to get my frame straightened...

Then I have to take it in, we determined a long time ago that it was the transmission slipping. Only thing it could be (or tcm problem)
