Wondering which kind of cone filter is the best hp-wise. I have a frankencar mid-pipe with a K&N filter right now. I've heard things about mosterflow, and others. anyone have the facts? Thanks

Re: Filters

Apexi's paper filter seems good and effective to me. and I havent heard positive things about monster flow.....but you wont be able to tell any HP gain between filters. on the other hand, the more important thing is the quality air that one filter can produce...so it wont damage ur MAF.

also the diff between the filters isnt gonna make a world of a diff, the best advantage i can see for ur setup is that u have an average k/n cone at the end of ur frankenncar. once it gets dirty, i personally would rather just throw it away and get another one that comes pre-oiled (quote to Y2kse) then re-oil the filter myself and risk gettin it too wet with oil and messin up the MAR sensor. its only like $30 or something so its worth it, i on the otherhand am stuck with cleaning my stillen since i really done think im gonna go buy another intake every time it has to be cleaned, maybe just maybe ill think about upgrading it to a place racing CAI but im gonna wait it out til its dirty enough to clean of but another one, ill see. im just one of those people who has to change something oh their car every couple weeks so i dont get bored of it, new mods make the car brand new again

R u stalkin us??? i just remember things, even if ive read them a while ago. i just dont like to read something some1 else wrote and later on say the same thing and claim im the one who though of that like some others. but u are right, thats a very smart thing to do to protect the MAF sensor. just not every1 has that option. peace

That's not a bad idea to just buy a new one instead of cleaning and re-oiling it. I've read that this seems to be where a lot of MAF problems happen.

yea i'm actually thinking of buying two so i can always have one in, and have the other one cleaned and oiled by someone who really knows what they're doing. Think i heard this suggestion from someone else on the forum...i forget. Thanks.

hey Bryan...question, can ur Apexi Filter goes on to just one MAF adapter without the second one and silicon hose?

if it can, I would get it for my back up.

thx
