Problem Help Me Out!!!!!!
hey guys whats up i just installed some tockicko blues and some eibach springs and my ride is so damn bouncy it sucks, the reason i think the problem is occuring is because the ***** i bought em off cut them so they would be a 2 inch drop!!! I cant even lift my car on a normal jack because the springs are so small the guy told me at the place i put them on!! I need to know if its the springs that are to short that are making it bouncy or if it is is the tockickos? PLEASE LET ME KNOW!!!!!!

ouch man, one thing u need to know about eibachs is that the first two inches (or slightly less maybe 1 7/8") of spring travel is somewhat soft. once those few inches are passed the spring rate become extemley aggressive(as u can tell) and flattens out the car while cornering, braking, accel, ect.... but u have lost and inch of that softness and the end result is a set of springs that are basically acting as if they were compressed. just my .02 if im wrong some1 please clear this up then, but im pretty sure i know what im talkin about, goodluck.

Standard test for bad/or wrong adjustment if adjustable shocks is to push down on that corner and count how many times car bounces up and down. If it's 2 the shocks are bad. Springs are hard or soft. Without the shocks they'd ALL bounce. Probaly not your springs.

Well they are gas filled --- which are harder to check if their's any gas left in them. Any oil leaking out by shock shaft ?? Shocks do two things. Dampen any displacement motion and control how fast that displacement is. Shocks do this for bounce and jounce. On no adjustment shocks theirs some happy medium. Performance shocks or plain steet shocks. For instance you could have super stiff shocks and the tire would have to take that bump, and then would jar the car. Or soft shock that would let the wheel bounce all the way up to the stops and that would jar the car. BUT the only time the car would keep bouncing along is if their was no dampening control from the shock. Maybe bouncing is not what you ment ??

Maybe you need to turn down your stereo, your Maxima might just be dancing to the music...
Anyways, I seriously doubt it's your Tokicos. I just installed Blues yesterday and the ride is very nice... No bouncing. Why don't you try stock springs temporarily (front only, or rear only) and see if the "bounce" goes away. If it does get new springs, if it doesn't then you have a shock problem.

The cut springs are whats making your ride seem not right. Cut springs should only be used for show, not every day driving.
Why do you think the spring manufacturers pay engineeres 6 figure salaries to design products for them? They don't design them to be cut, thats for sure.

I don't think you can cut tokicos to add to the drop. From the way he stated it, it sounds like he bought them used. Besides, later in the post he says
So go read it again.

I agree with njmaxseltd, springs are designed for a specific spring rate, and once they are modified/cut they will not work the way they were designed.
Bottom line, replace the cut springs and your ride should not bounce anymore.
