If anyone is interested in looking at the Technical Service Bulletin for the rear bumper scratches I posted it up at the web site below. The bumper bulletin is 4 pages long which requires the rear bumper and the rear tail lamps to be removed to perform this TSB. I also put up the Transmission Control Module TSB if anyone needed a copy.

Thanks

My bumper clips are still on backorder....is it just me or does this seem like a pretty big job? I don't know about you but the though of Joe Tech performing body work on the car makes me a tad nervous that the car is not going to come back out in better shape than it went in.....

"Slightly enlarge the hole if you need to" WTF? I don't know about the techs in your area but this TSB seems more suited to body shop guys, not techs.

I can just see it now....one good bump on the highway and the bumper takes off like a badly made paper airplane......debating whether I want this even done now...

Guess we are all waiting on the same thing...clips to come in for someone else to say how good or bad a job their dealer did on this....I know MartinF says that his dealer did a pretty bogus job on this...

I'm right there with you..my clips are on backorder...I'm nervous as hell to let service tech man do body work on my car..and I am contemplating on whether or not I really want this.

I have to admit that I am having second thoughts on having this TSB performed. I looked at how the trunk lid is installed on the Maxima. If you loosen the 4 bolts holding the trunk lid, you could move the trunk lid forward or backward, but you might miss align the trunk. The bolts that I am talking about are on the inside bottom, 2 on each side. I looked and their is room to move the trunk lid once these bolts are loosened. You might be able to get away with moving the trunk lid back just a little bit to avoid further scratches, or you roll the dice and let them perform the TSB.

I'm getting this done at Bellevue Nissan in WA. I think (and hope) they have body shop people doing this. They said they couldn't do it on a weekend since the body work people weren't there so that sounds like its not going to be done by mechanics.

I took my car in last week for the bumper scratches and transmission ecu upgrade. I went to the service department. When I showed up I noted to them that they should probably double check the clip part numbers which they had ordered.

I received a call later in the day that the ecu was installed, but I was correct in that the clip part numbers were wrong. They ordered the correct clips and they arrived a day or two later.

I am scheduled for next Monday to have the bumper fixed by the body shop at the same dealership.

I'm a little confused how they can order the proper clips and they arrive in a day or two after ordering, yet most everybody is saying they are backordered. This is a small dealership as well.

Same dilema here, I'm not sure to just live with the scratches or risk bringing in and have a bigger problem then just scractches.

It is amazing that so many of us have the same story to tell. I brought my Maxima in this week to get the new clips installed, but they had the wrong ones? They reordered the right ones.

So I had the new clips put in. I was unhappy with how the bumper fascia met the rear fender after the fix. I showed the SM, and he took me on an inspection of new Maximas, and believe me, on a number of them the fit is far from exact. As the SM said, "the nature of the beast"
