Fuse block questions...
Fuse block questions...
I had a chance yesterday to work on my car, hardwiring in my V1. (Hey, it's only been 15 months or so...)
So I took a close look at my fuse block. There are three open fuse sockets, numbers 3,4 and 15. All three are aux/on. (i.e. They're off when the car is off.)
So I used one of 'em for the V1. I stuck the hookup wire into the front of the panel, but it looks like crap. Two-and-a-half questions:
1) Has anyone dropped the fuseblock? What's it look like in back. Can I hook a wire into it, put a fuse in and use that fuse rather than an inline fuse, or is it nothing but molex back there? (If I can't get to it, I'll just get a small spade connector and keep my V1 power in front of the fuse block.)
2) What are they there for? Maybe something in the I/J30? Future enhancements? I think I got every option available (except for the stupid trunk mounted cd-changer) and they aren't documented.
2.5) I used to use the cigarette... uh... auxiliary power socket to power the V1. Now it's empty. I put that black plastic thing back in it, but it looks stupid. Any suggestions? (Suggestions that I use a body part will be ignored...)

Re: Fuse block questions...
I tried locating a place in my 2000 SE's fuse block to connect my Escort SR-1 Remote, but didn't see anything friendly. So while adding a Nissan lighter kit to the center console, I spliced the detector into the lighter wire. No problems in a year and a half, and it turns on with the key.
If you do find a good way into the block, I will be installing the same detector in my new 2002 soon
