Power loss

It's been hot in Chicago for past few day and I noticed low end power loss. I have Frankencar/JWT intake. When I launch It feels slower and at around 3k RPM, I get a power surg. My filter only has 30k miles, I got new coils and I had fuel cut TSB done. I think it's just hot air in the engene compartment rubbing me. Once car starts rolling and cooler air starts coming in, power comes back. Do you think I'm right or do I need to get it checked out?

Whether you're being rubbed or being robbed, you've identified the problem all right! If you're being rubbed, however, you may be having a very strange relationship with your intake.

This is exactly what has been discussed the past few days. I'm of the mind that it is the sacrifice for having the advantages of the intake once moving and at night/during cooler weather. My race mech. friends say there is no harm other than performance though.

I'm investegating the idea of creating a heatshield. I noticed that Franken is developing a prototype listed under stage 3. I have also noticed that almost all other intakes of the same type for other cars come with that very thing.

or OSCAI if you're cheap and you left your stock air scoop/OSCAI in place when you installed your HAI.

The general opinion is that POP-intakes provide better results at high-speeds and when the weather is cold...the CAI doesn't provide any real value.

I don't know about that, Michael. Even in the winter, an automobile engine generates enough heat to cook meat!

At high-speeds, in cold weather, don't you think that the air is kept somewhat cool? I mean, this past winter the air temp sensor in my FC mid-pipe was reading pretty cold on the highway well after the engine was warmed up.

I only have 30k miles on my filter and it'll looks pretty clean. It's recommended to clean and re-oil every 50k miles.
