My PR CAI is now a PR Pop Style

Well, I did the install of the PR CAI this morning and finally came to the conclusion the template was incorrect or I really screwed it up. Yes, it stated 2000 on the template.

I was having trouble lining everything up, then I felt I finally had it situated. Luckily, at this point, I chose to put the battery tray back in to ensure I had clearance for the battery once it was put back in. Everything seemed to be a tight squeeze; therefore, I wanted to make sure the piping was situated properly.

The battery never became a problem because the battery tray mounting holes would not line up due to the pipe blocking it. This confirmed the hole was incorrectly placed. I suppose I could have really screwed up the alignment but then it is not an easy thing to due since you line up the template with the battery tray mounting holes. So, now I need to "move" the hole.

At this point, it was getting cloudy, and I had removed all of the stock stuff. I decided to leave off the long, curved pipe and put the K&N filter directly on the MAF, pop style. This works fine. I put the o2 sensor back in it's stock location. I put the battery and necessary items back in.

The car definetly has more spunk and a different tone, but I am still going to go back in and address the long piece of pipe and make it a true CAI through the fender. It started to rain so I stopped, since the car was back to operational and I need to figure out how I want to "move" the hole. The hole is not visible just glancing at the engine bay.

Yes, the PR CAI was my intake of choice, so if you're thinking about chiming in about another type intake...

I had that same problem all I did was enlarged my hole a little bit towards the shock tower. That will allow you to get it in the right place and also then it won't make a noise while putting in drive or while driving.

Ringey dingey ding!

So let me see. (1) The PR CAI is a son-of-a-b!tch to install. (2) According to a recent poll, you've got about a 1 in 4 chance of blowing your MAF sensor with an aftermarket intake. (3) If your MAF sensor fails, there's little or no possibility that your dealer will repair it under warranty if a tech happens to see either your PR CAI or the "hard-to-find" hole that's left behind if you reinstall your OEM intake. (4) A new MAF sensor runs around $600.00 installed.
