Worse gas mileage ever

Worse gas mileage ever
Get this. Last week, I filled up my 2k2 and decided to get a touchless wash at the same time.
Of course, when I went in to pay, there was practically nobody in line but when I come out there was something like 10 cars waiting. Great.
So I get into the Max and get in line. While I'm waiting, I reset the trip odometer, and fuel mileage, average speed, etc. and then proceed to wait, creeping forward a car length every 5 minutes or so.
I end up waiting almost half an hour because obviously everybody is getting the super-ultra-deluxe car wash, with 6 different clear coat protectors, 8 rinses and a hand job.
I finally get into the car wash and I happen to glance down at the fuel mileage reading. 65.6 L/100 km! That works out to 3.6 MPG (US)!
Of course, once I got out of the car wash and started driving normally it dropped down within minutes to my usual 9 L/100 km. But for a fleeting moment, I had a glimpse of what its like to drive a Ford Expedition.

Know the feeling, got caught in BAAAADDDDDD traffic one day on the 610 loop here in Houston in my '97 Ram. Burned through 1/4 of a 26 gallon tank in a 5 mile stretch...no foolin'!! Start, 5 feet, stop, etc., etc., etc. I mean on a good day those things get 12 mpg (while actually moving).
I don't mind at all filling the Max after some fun launches, on ramp romps, 52 mile a day commutes, etc. and still getting in the 20's!

maybe...
you should reset the fuel consumption meter once you do start driving at highway speeds. cause if you reset it after getting a fillup and just crawl slowly then yeah, it'll look like its only getting low fuel efficiency.
