Re: IMHO, it's not apples to apples.

You can't keep up with teh wife in the twisities? LOL, learn to drive my friend. The Acura handles much better than the Max and that was proven in the latest article against hte BMW 330. Again this past weekend I drove in the hills against 40 other Maximas, and I am stock, I was passing them in high speed turns with my stock rubber and they were modded.

I also tried to run don's 2k2 Auto, he wouldn't bite much, he did once, and he had a jump, but I still slowly realed him back in, but not enough room to pass, but enough time to get to his speed and slowly creep back up to him. We both were stock.

I own both of these cars, and I have proved before that the Maxima 6 speed is faster in a straight line than my wife's CL-S auto. A 6 speed CL-S would be a different story based on the opinion of the service manager at the local Acura dealership - he says it pulls hard.

That CL in the video is definitely a 6 speed, and my opinion is that the Max is an auto. 6 speed vs 6 speed would be very interesting

In case you may be wondering, the Maxima will pull on the Acura in a straight line, but I can't keep up with my wife in the CL-S in the twisties....perhaps different rubber would help however the front end washes out much quicker in the Maxima than the Acura. Just my $0.02.

Ouch! I hope you didn't overev your engine by doing that mis-shift! Be nice on her!!! Anyways, these guys won't even believe that, but obviously they will learn the hard way. Kloogy, is one that talks too much. He needs to come run me, or find someone with a 2k2 auto down here that is stock to run me. I am just sick of his smack talk!

The car has higher trap speeds, than the Max, it does 96-98+ mph for the 6spd, the max barely hits 94.

As far as handling is concern, I don't think it's even a fair comparison. In stock form, the Maxima was never known for it's handling capability. Why else the first mod most Maxima owners have are suspension mods?

Russ...I think you should offer Don a challenge! Then we can end the argument once and for all(highly unlikely).

If you know Don, he will have some mod done to his car shortly! lol!! I wanted to run him, but he didn't really want to run that day!!

Here is a good article that just got released by Canadiandriver.com

2nd time we were dead even from the launch until until we shifted to 3rd and i shifted to 5th by accident it was all over

3rd time he took about 1 car off the launch and i went from 1st to 2nd back to 1st in my haste to get a good 2-3 shift. i lost and almost killed my tranny while i was at it.

4th time he took about a car on the launch and keep creeping a little further ahead by 80 mph. he was about 2 cars ahead when we shut down.

all and all, the main difference is just that my friend is a much better driver than i am but to be honest i think the CL-S is slightly faster anyway.

sorry, i didnt have a video camera like i had planned. we ran into eachother at 7-11 by chance so i didnt have it with me.
good race pratice more, you should have switched cars with your friend and see who wins

The only one. May have something wrong with that track. I have seen sensors out of calibration. All the others have ran what I said.

1/4 means alot, but trapspeed shows the actual ability of the car to accelerate quick. The higher the trap, the faster the car is.

all i have to do to get a higher trap is to launch a little ligher and i know i will hit 94 maybe even 95 if i am thinking correctly. plus you need to run your cls stock and see what it does before you dawg us 2k2 autos now no flames just need some slips. by the way i wanted a cls but too much $$$$ for me.

Really? Dang! When i was still looking for a car to replace my Civic (had to get rid of it, was screwed big-time on the lease rates) the best i could find was $29k w/o the Nav.

Then again that was a year ago.

well if you floor it all you get is wheel spin so thats not a good logic to use i eased on the throttle until about 3000 and then floored it and pulled 2.2 60's all night so if i floor it my trap will be higher and my time will be a lot lower correct. by the way i paid $25000 out the door my sticker was $28900 so when i get myself established in work field i will get the g35 6 spd cause by that time they will have the sedan in a manual. I am only 20 so give me a few years to become a supervisor and making good money and then the high dolla cars will be an option. i pay all my bills so a $600 car payment is out the question right now cause i would have no spending money cause i pay $324 for my car with the extended warranty sorry so long the thoughts just kept coming

First off to Stang Guy.....sure you have a 2001 Aegean Blue CL-S SINCE THEY NEVER MADE ONE THAT YEAR.

Did anyone read that I35 article vs. the TL-S that Russ posted. This quote is interesting, "It's an impression reinforced on the open road, where the Acura leaves the Infiniti for dead from stoplights and also passes traffic on two-lane roads faster and more confidently. Credit the extra fifth ratio in its five-speed automatic, which is able to make better use of the 3.2-litre VTEC motor's power and torque. Despite fantastic kickdown performance on the highway from its four-speed, the I35 can't keep up; acceleration from rest is hampered by a huge gap between first and second gears which results in a noticeable pause in the proceedings."

So can anyone explain to me why a 2k2 Maxima auto is any faster than an I35??? Maybe Kloogy can chime in....he keeps claiming that he beats TL-S's....but if you were by my side of the country, I would most certainly **** on your maxima buddy.

Maybe he bought it in 2001 as a 2002 model?

I35 is slightly heavier.

Even the TL-S guys admit that the 2k2 Maxima is slightly faster. Take note he said TL-S, not CL-S.

sure it will mr. i post 20 times a day and find a tls or cls running 14.6 stock auto or faster then you can say that. just cause your car runs 18's doesn't mean you have to crack on other maxes

all of the cars are similar. a CL-S might beat a maxima one day and that same maxima might beat different CL-S the next day. its nothing worth arguing about.

yes i know but sometimes people post stuff like that just so they can **** everyone off and its not needed on the org. the cars auto to auto are head to head and the manual are head to head so why all the threads keep poping up i don't know. moderators just lock them before the posting starts or better off delete them when flaming starts

Someone doesn't understand the use of sarcasm.......but I guess you should be forgiven since you have a Crapura.

And some people have better things to discuss on these forums than whether the CL/TL or Maxima wins by a stupid .1 in the quarter when anyone with a brain can see it's driver-dependent and move on with life....

Maybe the guy in the Max is the same guy who tests cars for Consumer Reports. You know! The same folks that managed a 16.2 second ET in an auto 2K2 Maxima.
