Need some opinions...

About a month and a half ago I got a speeding ticket. I was doing 93 in a 65 at 1:30A.M., and got pulled over by a State Trooper (Wisconsin). Well anyway, at the time, I was driving my dad's Maxima (2K1 Sterling Mist). What I was thinking about doing, was going into court and telling them that I was driving my mom's Maxima (2K Sterling Mist) and the Trooper wrote down the wrong license plate number. Of course, I would have the registration for the 2K Maxima to support my arguement. And if they run the plates for the 2K1, and see that that car belongs to my dad, I could say that I was taking his plates to him and had them in the back window, so the Trooper must've saw those and wrote them down by mistake. I've read on here numerous times of people getting out of tickets when the Officer writes the wrong information down. So, think it's worth a shot? Sorry about the length, I wanted to be descriptive as possible.

How do they write tickets there? Do they write down VIN info? If so, you are screwed. Anyway, even if you try your scheme I think it is not a good idea since the cops will have a bad taste in their mouths for BOTH your parents' cars since they now know both plates to watch for....

Man you are playing a lethal game that you wont win. You think they are going to buy that long string of, pardon me, BS? It might suck but just deal with it. I too have been in the crappy part of the law when my license was involved but trust me, they are not going to buy it. And its not worth the possible ADDITIONAL reprecussions if they catch you trying to adjust the truth.

Yeah, you guys are probably right. Thanks for the feedback. BTW, they do not write the VIN information, just license plate information. However, on a different ticket (yes, that's right, ANOTHER), in the box titled "Year/Make", the Officer only wrote Nissan. So no year, is that grounds for dismissal?

You are getting into atty territory here. You can get lots of opinions from this forum, but unless it is a practicing atty in the jurisdiction you are concerned with, I would consider them just that...opinions.

The big boys have all the DMV info available on all the cars and it would not be hard to figure out what you are up to. If they figure it out you will be double screwed.
I have a son with a MAX and if he tried that he would be triple screwed!

Yes i agree with everyone else...It is a weak plan at best and the consequences could be severe considering its only a speeding ticket right now.
