SC oil leak hopefully resolved

My local mechanic shop found the source of the leak, it was the oil drain back plate that was installed with the supercharger kit. It allows oil to drain from the SC back to the rest of the engine (I think). It seems the gasket or silicone sealant was not installed correctly. The repair wasn't cheap, but at least now it's fixed.

emax95, it wasn't the other plate that we suspected. I saw that plate and the sealant seemed nicely installed. Thanks for the help.

Hehehe... didn't I say to check that in my first reply?

Yeah, but I had no idea what that was before today. Thanks for the information. I hope the seal doesn't have a problem when I switch to the 3.25" pulley

You shouldn't run into any leaks if the drain back plate was sealed correctly. Happy boosting!

Good to hear that. I got the crank pulley seal replaced as well since the pulley was off anyways, so that's a plus. Also, they installed the aluminum tensioner and idler pulleys, so it wasn't the worst experience.

Happy to hear you got it fixed! You should send the bill to the shop that originaly installed the SC.

I sent the invoice and pictures of the leak to the original installer. I'm waiting to hear from them if they will cover it. Thanks for the suggestion though .

Re: SC oil leak hopefully resolved

Hehe aside from the pulleys disintegrating, I think the oil return plate is one of the only common problems the stillen/vortech kits have. I'm going to pay extra special attention to that when installing : the big day is this coming Tuesday Leaving the car at my friend's garage if we don't finish up on Tues; hopefully by Wed or Thurs I'll be running around with a big grin on my face

Enjoy!
