Dunno when this started but I noticed now I have to be really close to my maxima in order to turn off/on the alarm. I put new batteries thinking that would be but nope.
Only new thing I did to the car is replace the TCM (And I don't see that much of a difference.). is there a attenna under the dash for the alarm that they might have forgotten to put back on?

alarm

My I30 has been like that from day 1, unlike my 95 max that could work from what seemed like several miles!

I did notice that when switched to silent mode (no horn beep when locking-see manual on how to change--its done with the fob) I can stand further away and lock/unlock.

if your range is poor, hold the transmitter under your chin and then hit the button, your body works as a antenna. IF U think its funny try first.

even that doesn't give me the range it used to have. if I put it under my chine, I can stand about 4-5 cars away. before I could stand about 10 without any problems.

I LOVE this solution. Looks stupid as H!*#, but it really works!

'Course, I don't have this prob. right now. I can lock my doors while inside my office building about 100 feet away without using the chintenna.

I guess my cousin is not crazy after all. He says that he does that with his remote and it works better... lol

Why do you need to lock/unlock the doors so far away? Maybe the short range is one of the security feature of our Maximas (so no one can get into your maxima before you do)!

But I would like to unlock the car so my wife can get in while the car is in the garage and I'm in the house. The under the chin did work before. now if I do that, I can get about 4 cars away.

Real Real Bad rain and U have to run to the car. No time to mess with keys when U get to the car. better to have the door open.

Competative nature. Wanted to see whose remote worked the farthest. (Sorta like power window races.) I won.

My remotes work from my office 12 floors up in downtown San Diego, when my Max is parked in the outdoor lot diagonally across the street!!

And while we are on the subject, anyone know why they eliminated the feature where you can roll down driver's window down from your remote?? This was standard on 4th Gens.
