YJ. WhatR U doing to blow your tires? I drove about 15K on my STOCK Rims/Tires and still had good life left on em. I got pics of my tires at home that I took when I put em on Ebay and it had plenty of life on em. U sure you are not over inflating them? and how do U blow 2 tires at one time anyways.?? I got like 9K on my Bridgestones now that I got with my Borbets and U can see in my pics they have plenty of life.

I have almost 29K on my stockers (still have life in them). You might be doing something wrong with the pressure.

What tires did you get?

Aren't are 2K Max stock tires by Toyo? When do u guys usually rotate and do alignment on the tires so that they will last the longest.

They blow out in pairs??

If your serious, than we may have to be more careful... Cuz if 2 tires blow out @ 85 mph, you are SO DEAD..

(from what I hear, if only 1 tire blows out, you still have a chance, as long as you hold the steering wheel firmly (straight), and don't hit your brake or accelertor) Slam on the brakes, and you spin out.. (at a high speed, that would also include substantial rolling)

Re: Re: Stock Tires

I notice you have a GLE... I have an SE with C&C package (the later one, including 17" tires), and they came with Bridgestone Potenzas..

Perhaps you have smaller tires? Or bought one of the earlier models, before 17" tires were available?

Both the Toyo's and Bridgestone's come on the 2000 SE's. Two identical cars, side-by-side on the lot, had the different tires. I chose the one with Bridgestone's.

I too was under the impression that the Potenza's were more performance oriented tires... Besides, I didn't know that I had a choice...

Prolly would've still picked the Bridgestones over Toyos, given a choice... (this was before the big Firestone mess, and perhaps I mighta been a bit more cautios about Bridgestone's after that)

The 16inch ones are. He has 17s. The three tires available on the 2k maxes are:

15 inch: You know... I really dont know. If you got the 15inchers on a max you didnt think to well.
16 inch GXE/GLE 9 spokes:Toyo Proxes and Goodyear Eagles<SUCK, I have them, noisy as heck>
16 inch GLE/SE: Toyo Proxes
17 Inch SE: Bridgestone Potenza's ( I WANT THESE ! >

i hate my tires...i have the stock 17s and they don't grip for me for $hit...since i have springs the car can now dish out a lot more than the tires can handle (didn't really have this problem before springs)...the toyo proxies on the 16s aren't good toyos...they aren't like t1's or anything...speaking of which...i am planning on getting rid of my bridgestone potenzas and getting some toyo proxie t1-s's...anyone interested in my stock tires? i might just go ahead and upgrade to 18s or 19s though (thinking niche shocks or shocking shocks or maybe chrome tsw vx1's)

Actually, on a stock configuration, they grip like glue... (at least for me, and my daily driving purposes)

Beware of wet surfaces tho, they're not bad (above average even), but nevertheless, I've seen much better tires...

yeah but i don't know how good they would look...i'm thinking of 18s or 19s...do you think i should go w/ chrome or not? w/ the 18s i'd go w/ toyo proxies 255/40ZR18 and 19s i'd go w/ 255/35ZR19...maybe 245 for both...how does everyone think niche shocks or shocking shocks would look...chrome or silver?

Dont go with the 19's, unless you are planning to roll the fenders, or they WILL rub!!! I am getting the TENZO-R 18" put in on Friday, Can't wait!!!

Gotta move em' around...quickly

Keep those tires rotated and balanced a little more than average. It dosen't matter what tire brand as long as it's a good rated one. Keep your front end aligned also. This will help your rotors from warting over time. I've had three maximas an i've seen the problems and know the remedies. Remember nissans are bad when it comes to bowing. This is when the front tires start moving endward towards each other, like an old lady with bow legs....beware!

Grip like glue in stock form? Too far back to remember. Now, they suck... especially in the rain. I will [typo said want] spin all the way through 1st and most of 2nd if I mash the pedals from a dead stop.

With 17z U'ld get 235/45/17 or if U want 245 then 245/40 245/45 may be too tall and would throw the speedo out unless U get the gearing changed in the tranny.

Kev same problem with me, when I had my car with stock tires, boy it got scary in the rain after a while, well I take sharp turn anyways but even with much control I can tell the tires were at the peak of their grip and would break loose every now and then. Dry they are good, Wet is another story.

225/50R17 = 25.85" Factory
245/45R17 = 25.68" Mines
235/45R17 = 25.32" Everyone Else's
245/40R17 = 24.71" Your Idea
205/65R15 = 25.49" Factory
215/55R16 = 25.31" Factory

Ali,

What does the math tell you ?
25.4cm = 1"

Enjoy and Digest Carefully

I egg on Jane when she drives her Max... we'll pull up to a car (or vice versa), then I'd look over to the driver. I then turn back to Jane and say, "dude wants to race you. He's looking at your car... race him!"
