2K2 FRANKEN CATBACK or OLD SKOOL M3

so i have a majestic blue 2k2 6 speed slightly modded with frankencar and a catback. and my friend just bought a used 98 M3. off a red light he blew me away (actually maybe only 1 car lead). But I was thinking perhaps its because i burned tired shifting all the way to 3rd... Did his traction and RWD beat me or was it the M power???

Not the RWD that beat you. Its the M engine. It gets upto a 100 quicker than we do. Yeah given it is about the same as your 2k2 6spd on the 1/4 mile but it gets upto speeds quicker. like to 70.

His RWD definitely has an advantage. Most RWD cars will smoke up off the line. All they need is a good launch and they are gone. Their care was also tested and built better than ours. Every gear was tested for it's maximum performance and ability. Ours was put together and shipped it over. That 'M' stands for a lot. You are looking at decades of performance knowledge put into a car.

whats really funny is look at the hp rating on the new 330is. Then look at the 1/4 times. I think the car had just almost 200hp. and its running in the mid 14's. Sick isn't it!

A lot of people think that the E36 M3 is slow, but the 5 speeds are low 14s cars. Plus, there are a lot more Mods out for the M3 than our cars.

Imagine an "M" - tuned 2k2 Maxima

255HP, with a "fine-tuned" 6-speed gearbox & sport suspension!

That ride would be a blast to drive!!! A true MONSTER-RR!

Now that would be hot. That is what Nismo is for. But dont know if they will truly be doing that here in USA this fall or not.

You must be talking about RWHP because they're pushing 225HP at the crank (or at least that's what they say)... BTW, the old skool M3 is pretty damn fast... 240HP, RWD and a beautfully balanced car in all aspects is a really great thing... Ever seen a S/C'ed E36

S/C is slow compared to a Turbo M3. A guy around here has a AAW Turbo kit on his M3, it is sweet
