Hello all...

I was wondering what your thoughts were on getting a K&N filter for a little easier breathing engine...I'm not interested in "modding" to the extreme or a CAI (please don't stone me!), just something simple!

What do you think, worth it???

I used a K&N drop in filter for some time. You won't notice huge gains but there is a tiny bit extra over stock.

I don't think so, I read a BMW site somewhere where they tested the oil on the same car with an OEM filter and a K&N air filter. The K&N let in a bunch more contaminents into the engine, it was either 30% over stock or 70%. I don't remember which one. I have the page saved on cd somewhere...(I've been needing to dig it up and post it)

The Amsoil air filters aren't too bad. They definately aren't lifetime like they would have you believe though. The foam wear's down over time.

Thanks, guys. Looks like it may not be a good investment...albeit a cheap one anyways. May change my mind later about a CAI...

Yeah, if you're keeping the stock airbox in just stick with Nissan air filters. It will make your life easier with warranty and service work, and you're not going to realize any real gains from the K&N drop-in filter.
