I can email you the Crutchfield instructions if you need them.

Hey Y2K2Driver, are those the 2K2 dash schematics or is it for any 5th gen? I think they're the same, but I've never examined a 2K2's dash, so I'd like to know.

Those are the 2K2 schematics. I'm not sure if they also apply to the other 5th gens.

Y2kDriver. Thank you Thank You!.

I've been looking for this diagram for weeks.
What did it come from - the Shop manual?

Thank you for posting.

How about Navi dash...

Would the Navi section be the same as the number 9 on the first page?
It appears to be but I think there was a screw behind the screen that's not shown here.
Or can you PM me with the source as well? I can look at the rest of the wonders of info then.

Thanks,

Shaydz

All of the info comes directly from the Electronic version of the FSM. I got mine from www.nissan-techinfo.com Its kind of expensive, but a very good reference nonetheless.

download the images and save them as jpeg

then if you have microsoft publisher open that up to a BLANK landscape project with special paper size 16x20

insert the picture as a FILE not as clipart

if you don't have publisher...wait till later this evening and I will convert the ones that I did to adobe pdf and host them on my server then you can download the full image from there

BUT you will have to tape the pages together...it prints out on about 8 pieces of paper

and you will be able to see all of the instructions for the dash!!

Vent Removal

I have a 2000 Maxima GLE. I am guessing that the dash is basically the same as a 2002. Here is how I removed the panel above the radio:

Get a firm grip on the panel with the vents on it. Pull straight out. The whole panel will pop right out. It was extremely easy. If you cannot get a firm grip on it, get some kind of a tool with a hook at the end. Slide the hook through the vent so that it grabs the back of the panel and pull. It should pop right out.
I think this should work on the 2002 Maximas since there was no major change in the dash configuration.

Gook luck and let me know how you made out.

I didn't realize that the pages were getting formatted strangely in jpeg form, so I uploaded the two as a pdf, hope that helps.

Okay boys and girls,

I tried everything to rip the damn vents out...

IT does not pop out very easily as everybody says it does!!

I even tried the screw driver to pop the bottom clips but the top doesn't budge,

I pulled it as hard as I can and still no go!!

Any suggesttions??

on the panel assembly page it doesn't look like the right and left vent pop out of the dash....only the center vent pops out of the dash

BUT the directions to remove the entire dash are there...so why don't you remove the entire dash and then try to push the vents out from the back??

I used the directions to remove the cupholder/center console between the seats so I could better attach my homemade ebrake boot from inside the console....and the directions were great...I had tried to do it before but didn't realize that there were 3 other screws I had to remove......so for my needs the directions that he posted were friggin wonderful.....but you may not want to hear that

good luck on your disassembly

Vent Assembly

Here is my suggestion:
Remove as much of the dash assembly as possible. Then drive to your Nissan dealer for advice on how to remove the vent assembly. That is what I did and they were very polite and helpful. Of course they did not charge me for this advice. My assembly popped out like a dream.
Good luck
