Michelin Pilot MXM4's are in! First impressions

garnered only from eyeballing and a 8 mile trek thru traffic:
1. Incredibly supple and silent...much MUCH smoother and quieter than the Potenzas. Lane dots are a soft 'whump' versus a loud 'WHOP'; much less NVH (Noise, Vibration, Harshness) transmitted to the body sturcture as evidenced by the disappearance of a soft buzzing in the B pillar (next to my left ear) that would come and go in syncopation to the slight vibration transmitted from the tires when running on rough concrete surfaces.

2. Look good...at their thickest point they are indeed about 3/8" wider than the Potenzas...I need to mike the tread. Since I brought the Potenzas back (hell, 7.8k miles on them) I can do that another time.

The only thing I dont care for too much is the very open tread...the channels between the tread blocks are very wide...methinks that ultimate dry grip could be compromised -but I wont test that for a couple weeks.

If you have stock rims and want to soften the ride somewhat...these babies are sweet indeed...

How much did those bad boys cost ya? What size? I'm already sick of my Potenzas after only 3000 miles.

hmm, interesting. I had those tires on my last car, a 98 Accord EX V6 coupe. They were the OEM tires on the car, in 205/60R16 size. I wasn't very impressed with them, I found a huge increase in handling and decrease in road noise when i replaced them with a set of Nokian NRVs.

I wasn't a big fan of them before, maybe they've changed them a little. Are you in a climate that gets in any snow? I found they were very poor in snow when i had them...

Still, they probably are better than the potenzas

$185.11 each at Sears...they have a sale on

all Michelins on right now. Consider that TireRack sells these for $186 so...not a bad price at all. Order to installation, one week and one day...sweet

Crusader...are you sure you had those tires??

Somehow methinks you had the H-rated MXV4, not the MXM4s..these are pretty new tires..one of the latest in the Pilot series...
