2003 maxima SE
I was at a Peak Nissan and i was looking for a car. The salesman was trying to sell me a 96 SE. He was saying it was the "SPECIAL EDITION" ={ Now i always though it was the SPORTS EDITION and im sticking w/ the SPORTS EDITION. Now could he of been confused w/ that new 2003 SE which has 265 HP. http://www.freshalloy.com/site/cars/...001/home.shtml
thats a link. IS that just the regular old Sports edition or is that a special edition.?
damn salesmen = dont know anything

So are the 2003s out or what? I hear you all on the topic of dealers not knowing squat about their cars. I was flabbergasted by how little they knew about their maximas. I was under the impression that I was test driving a 2002 SE this past May. btw, very impressed with that engine. So how do I know if I am looking at a 2002 or 2003? Any key differences I should be aware of?
I've gotten most of my info from nissandriven.com and carpoint.msn.com

Ok, that's a fair enough answer. Let me refine my request: What are the differences between 2k2 and 2k3 SE's. What are the new features available on the 2k3, if any? Could someone point me in the direction of a definitive source. I get unlcear results when I search for this information. Thanks in advance.

Now is a really gook time to buy a 2002.Most of the cosmetic upgrades you can do aftermarket. Mechanically the car is the same. The biggest difference is in the price you'll walk away with.
The dealer know nothing. They just don't do their homework. You'd figure it would be easy enough since they only sell six models (sentra, altima, Maxima, Xterra, Pfinder, Frontier)

Who trains these MORONS!?!?!?! All they are are "salespeople". I am in advertising sales and my general manger is the exact same way. he doesn't know or care to know jack squat about our product. Just how to use sales tactics. And our clients realize this too when they meet him.
Most of the ignorant people I have seen are older salespeople- the group that thrived in the 80's with the "what's it gonna take" crap.

I just received delivery of a 2000 SE and according to the salesman it has 290hp. I also test drove a 2001 Altima that they had that was rated at 190hp according to the sales rep. I tried to correct him but he really thought that he was correct with his performance figures. I thought it was funny. These were bone stock cars at a Nissan dealership.

It seems like the dealers talk to some really stupid people the will buy anything the salesman tell them to buy. I saw like a 90 year old guy in a base SE, what the hell. The very appearance of the SE should tell you that its a "Sport Edition". I will say this though, the dealer that I go to other than the service department is great. Everyone knows me and they know thier shi**. I've looked at the Acura, but the Max just gets my blood flowing. Gives me this sense of euphoria

You should talk to my Grandpa
My Grandfather, while a VERY big car feak, knows little about foreign cars, did you know that old fart had to nerve to tell me that the Accord had an optional V8 engine! I'm not kidding either. He's one of those olddie-types that you just can't argue with! I laughed all the way out the door. Can you imagine an Accord with a V8, heck, the Avalon doesn't even have a V8, Acura can't even be offered with a V8!
Hey Bob, what kind of car do you drive. "Oh, I drive a Honda Accord EXV8!

A salesman told me this today, and it ****ED me off!!
I was talking about the price of putting premium gas in the Maxima. The salesperson then said, "The manual says to put in premium, but you don't have to."
I said, "Oh really...what do you guys put in at the dealership?"
He replied, "Oh it just depends on who's puttin in the gas."
Now this 02 Max I was test driving already had 250 miles on it already. I wonder how much regular unleaded was pumped into it...

I don't put premium in my car. I put 87 octane in it, never had a fuel related problem, the only thing the car suffers from is lack of power. I drive, well crawl, through Chicago everyday and just don't see the point of putting premium in my car, especially when it cost 20 cents more a gallon and I fill up 1 to 2 times a week.

Re: You should talk to my Grandpa
Triple8Sol, it doesn't surprise me...it's just like when I went to the parts department at a local Nissan Dealership and asked if I could buy a gallon of NISSAN antifreeze (for top-off). He said they don't stock it. So, I said, "I guess you don't use Nissan coolant when you do flushes and fills, right?" He said, "that's right, we use whatever is the cheapest at the time."
Makes you feel good doesn't it?
