I just noticed this recently, during start-up in the morning and i turn on the AC the compressor is unusually loud.

It's like a low-pitched humming sound, but quite loud and sounds like it's having a problem turning a belt or something. (Like it's grunting). Definitely not the normal sound you hear when the AC is on.

After a minute or two however it goes away.

Is this normal as the AC ages? I doubt i can recreate the problem for the Nissan tech's since this only happens during the first start of the day.

 

mine has started that too. It has been around 100+ for days now so that might be why, but I notices mine sounds like a SC or something

 

That made me LOL as I am a huge Simpsons fan. My personal favorite:

I've never heard an SC first hand before so i can't compare but that sounds cool

I'm just worried something is lacking some lubrication in there thus why the loud noise.

I get that noise too. It figures, my warranty is almost up.
