Overdrive light flickering while racing...WTF!

I was racing my 2k auto gle with the overdive off, and I shifted into fourth with the o/d at about 120. I was going through some freeway twisties (slight uphill grade) and the o/d light started flickering and comming on and off before finally staying off. I kept my foot to the floor since I was in the middle of a race, but the light flickering bothered me. Why did it do this? Has anyone had the same experience?

I know that will happen

with excessive slip.. the tranny tries to protect itself. if your 2k Auto (like mine) hasnt had the fixes, you are looking at a visit to the dealer soon.

Oh sh*t...what fixes? Could you explain in greater detail. What do I need to do to my tranny to avoid problems.

Thanks,
Daniel

Firebird (mid-90's I guess). He destroyed me in the straits (combination of his v8 and my speed limiter), but I killed him twice in the turns (and the light traffic) before declaring victory and exiting.

well one night after it rained, I was crossing Hwy 280 and I had just moved into the centre median to head home, I stopped and waited for traffic to calm. It did and feeling a little playful I floored it and sent the tired spinning, suddenly the car started to judder and shudder, then T/C (and the rest of the dash) lights start flickering rapidly. Scared the ba-jesus out of me. Almost as scary as pulling hard on the E-brake on an abandoned stretch of tarmac at an old U.S airforce base in IL trying to learn how to drift my uncle's 1987 200sx back in June 1995 ....oh the memories.

Did you have any problems latter or was the car ok? All I had flickering was the o/d light, but it scared the sh*t out of me. I just wasn't stopping the race because I had never raced a firebird before and I wanted to kill it. I kept it floored and figured if the tranny was about to die, it would go out fighting and I would just get a stick conversion. However, everything has been fine. I haven't noticed any problems yet.
