2002 loose 6spd. hose??
2002 loose 6spd. hose??
Hi Maximas! I just bought a 2002 SE 6spd. on June 6th, and I love it! Its my first Nissan ever! I also like this Maxima club - seems like a great bunch of folks. I've been ckg. out all the mods, talking to a few members' and I'm very excited to be part of the club! The car is sweet! I'm close to 1,000 miles now, and after the 1,000 mile service, its time to open her up!
I was ckg. the engine bay area just a few days ago, and I noticed a hose which is dangling. The other end goes into the tranny. Its like the auto tranny dipstick, except this is a hose. Can someone please verify by ckg. if they have the same loose hose? I looked around in the area, and could not find a fitting where the hose may go. Any ideas?? Thanks for your help!
Regards,
ShysMax

Re: 2002 loose 6spd. hose??
congrats on the purchased. and about the loose hose, I believe you are talking about the one near the airscoope, before the air box. A 1 inch in diamemter hose that goes to no where? it is right, it goes to no where and dangling around the tranny dipstick.
if u wanna make sure....drop by to the dealer again and look at another one. that's what I did to my neighbor's car when I installed my OSCAI.
have fun!

Thank you two for your help. Yes, it is a curved hose, that leads to the tranny, which is not connected on the curved end. Thanks for popping the hood, and confirming!
I'm going to Nissan tomorrow for my 1,000 mile service, then its no more break-in period!!! WOOO HOOOO!! Time to see what she's got!

If the hose you are talking about is the same as the one in the picture below (within the yellow rectangle that I drew), then I believe it's just a breather hose. I noticed it when I removed the stock intake for the FC intake and I checked all over for somewhere that it might go.

Akrus, thanks for taking time out to take the pic! Yes, that is the hose, and I have confirmed it with a Nissan mech. that that is normal. He did not shed much light on the matter, so I left it at that.
MaxSE2K, the dealer asked me to come in for a oil & filter/fluids ck. service (on them, after they screwed up my final purchase price)after the first 1K. The owners manual does not say anything about this, but does mention a 3,700 mile service as being the first service.
Speaking about the 1K mile service, I was sooo disappointed. The mech. poured oil into my baby from a gallon milk container!! Who knows what oil was used, and if its fresh!!?? I did not see him coat the filter with oil, and he simply tightened the oil drain bolt. (I always use a torque wrench whenever I can on my Supra, and plan to on my Maxima). Small issues agreed, but still, my Maxima will run better if I do the service myself. To hell with the Nissan dealers (on easy stuff anyway)!!

Thanks for reading folks, and thanks for the help!
