Torque lockup converter ?
somebody help me here I am learning more as I read about my problem. What is a Torque lockup converter? and do you feel that it applies to my problem I am about to describe
Currently I have no problem with the way auto trans on my 2000 se shifts through all 4 gears. my problem is that I notice after 30mph and up I ease off the gas the car slows and not coast like it used to. It's kinda like downshifting from 5th to 4th downhill in a manual tranny. I get bad gas milage since this has been happening
Does any one else have a problem exactly like this. Any suggestions would be appreciated

This sounds very similar to what some of us are experiencing with our Max's. Mine is a 2001 SE Auto. Read the following posts and see if the symptoms match up.:

As you will see I am trying to get my dealer to help and to deal with Nissan. So far they have acknowledged they feel what I am describing (a start at least). I'm not too optimistic about a fix though based on other people's posts about their dealings with Nissan. Maybe they will surprise us...!!?? Sure would be nice to have a car that didn't lurch and surge and jerk around...!! Guess we're expecting too much from our 25-30thousand dollar cars huh...!!?? Lemon law is always an alternative I suppose. Or a different car (if one could afford to trade).
Anyway... get involved, and stay after your dealer (print out all these posts and show them to the service manager, business manager, owner, whoever...)and Nissan and maybe, just maybe, some Nissan engineer somewhere will earn his salary and come up with a fix....!!??
Good luck (to all of us)!!
