more bad news on 2k2 HU

if you guys remember reading my post about 3 days ago, my cd player stop working. Basically, the CD will only go half way into the player, than gets stuck there. Display showed a CD ERROR F3 message. I was planning on taking it to dealer on monday (tomorrow).
Now, today when I turned on the HU, I HEAR NO SOUND. I don't know if this is two problems are related or just an conincidence. I have aftermarket speakers, amp, subs. I know dealer probably won't give me any shiat about the problem if it was just the CD player, but now there is no sound. I can imagine they'll try to blame that on my aftermarket system. AWWWW, any suggestion/help would be appreciated.

No sound? Are your speakers all wired directly to the amps? If so, check your grounds for the amps. If you have enough sub boom, the grounds can shake loose (personal experience). If you had it installed professionally, take it back to them to check it. Currently I have the fronts and only one rear speaker hooked up to amps. The second rear speaker is connected to the factory wiring to the Pioneer HU, that way if the amps fail, one speaker still works, so I know where the problem is. Sound quality isn't affected, since the Pioneer pushes 45 watts per channel.

since...

You are using a converter (i hope), they will definately try to blame your aftermarket stuff. I mean, you should try, but if you actually get it serviced you should know how lucky you are

btw, there's a national backorder on HU's. ALOT of them are having problems in 2k2s. You *might* be able to use that as alittle leverage that the stock HU is at fault. Even direct calls to Clarion (who makes the HU) have confirmed a large volume of bad units, as its been mentioned here. I dont have a 2k2 so I cant really say any of that is true, but a search here will give you lots of info about 2k2 stereos and the CD read error

thanks for the replies.
I was 90% sure that dealer will fix my HU when my cd stop working, and now there is no sound (display still working), I'm only 30% sure they'll fix it. sigh
