New Maxima sales rate

http://www.nissannews.com/ is reporting that Maxima sales are down compared to 2001. No surprise there, but I just read a review from

http://www.newcarreviews.com/2002_nissan_maxima.html

which lists an interesting fact. Although Accords and Camrys regularly outsell Maximas, this article points out that the Maxima outsells the V-6 versions of each of those two cars. That's something I never considered, but it makes a lot of sense.

It has always kind of bothered me knowing that Maximas were behind in sales, and this news makes me feel just a little better.

Yeah, I would consider the Camry and Accord competition to be the Altima. The v6 version of those would be comparable to the Maxima or V6 Altima. There's no surprise there.

Personally, I like knowing that not any **** can go around driving a car like mine. On a regular day, you can spot Accord-ions, and S-camry's all over the place. Those figures are fine with me !

The way I read the data, if you drive a Camry or an Accord, you're just another face in the crowd!

Re: New Maxima sales rate

The Maxima has been the top selling V6 import for years. I also saw the 2002 sales are down compared to 2001. This was anticipated with a smaller production run for 2002. I guess the availability of the V6 Altima is a factor. The 2003 should be a short model year, so total sales might be even lower??
Nissan stock is up as are overall sales. This trend should continue with the new Z coming in.

If you read the report closely it says yes June 02 Maxima sales are down 12% with June 01 Maxima sales, however for the model year 02 through June 02 Nissan have sold 57K Maximas compared to 54K this time last year for the 01 Maxima......darn good if you ask me for the maxima sales to be up considering the Altima sales are up 35% for the year.......just thought i would clarify.
