I am not sure of any mod to a Max that can compete, the low end torque will be a killer off the line, high end...forget it, and any curves in the road...
. For over $20K in 'mods' I would imagine so many things would have to change or just plain be ripped out and replaced that it might not really be a Max anymore, at least not a very steetable one.Just a thought...

I believe the M5 is a 4-door sedan. Skylines come in turbo 4-door versions also

I should add that if this stock vette is an older one, you might keep up better, but if it's a newer one, good night.

It can be done. Immediately, you would have to bulletproof the bottom end of the engine, install new "everything" for engine components and then install NOS spraying at 175 and Supercharging it with 16lbs of boost. As long as the tranny doesnt blow, which it probably will, you may be able to take him.. It would probably yeild close to 600hp, while its being sprayed, with all the engine and exhaust mods.
Not possible? Come on fellas. He mentioned a rediculous budget in his post anwyays. For as little as $1600 you can make a 2002 or 2003 Maxima beat a stock C5. And for little or no more you can beat a C5 Z06.
This is only for the cost of a proper Nitrous system and a set of ET drag slicks with rims.

WHY?
I agree with SR20, although I'm not sure you can get there with just nitrous.
Also, what's the big deal - why give the guy a hard time.
He didn't say he was going to race a Z06 - he said stock vette.
If he asked - what would it take for me to run low 13s (and I've got 20k to spend). I'm certain there would be lots of input.
By the way, did you guys forget about Kev? Didn't he run sub 13s? MardiGras too?

Modded Max Vs Corvette
Well, my friend is planning to get a '03 z06 'vette.
He said all the mods in the world on a max can't beat a stock 'vette. So I figured a good starting price would be if the Max was modded to the price of a z06, which would be around $20k.
the question instead of a "Why?" becomes of an "If."
(If we got the *****, we'ed be racing cops too...)

Yeah, and what he really means is "I just paid $50,000 for this car PLEASE don't let the 4 door Jap sedan beat me!!". If I paid that much for a car I would be hopefull that I wouldn't get beaten by a Maxima either. I hope he is in touch with reality. Have you seen the video of the 12 second Dodge Caravan spanking the Z28?
Don has already run a 12.2 @ 108 on Nitto drag radials. His best trap speed is 116mph. That is sufficient to beat a Z06 and I seriously doubt he has all the mods in the world.

Where can I see this video?

The only thing I hate about my Max , is it's front wheel drive, as far as why you would buy a Chevy, look at a Z06, drive one, and you will have an answer to your question.
Also , most Zo6 vette's are not quite stock, Ive seen some running a squirt of laughing gas, with Drag Radials in the 11's..

Owning one of each I can tell you it would not be worth it. If your Max is your only car you really can not have both. The Vette launches like a rocket with Posi and 1.5 second 60 ft. Big torque.
I assume it is a rehtorical question?

This thread is just plain rediculous. You are comparing two opposite things. A Z06 vs Maxima, come on now. A Z06 properly driven will always be faster than a Maxima. Guys at the track were talking about seeing a STOCK Z06 run 12.3 if I remember correctly on stock tires a week before I went. Straight line performance isnt everything. Throw some turns into the equation and this thread becomes even funnier.

I agree with Kloogy...I thought this thread was a joke at first...Nothing can outhandle the Z06 and for God's sake we are comparing a freaking 24k mid sized sedan with a World Class sports car. The ONLY Nissan that would have a chance stock against a z06 in both the auto-cross and 1/4th would be the Twin turbo skyline, and even then it would probubly still lose.
Let's compare our minima's to lesser vehicles, like Impala's, Marauders, Anything honda, Acura's,....but Z06's? No.

And is that Minivan streetable? I think we are talking a Maxima that could still easily be a daily driver, not a drag machine. For instance if Don in Texas got ahold of a 2k2 Max and sooped that b!tch up, a stock Z06 could easily be toast.
