Can the Navi play DVDs? If not, is there an input that I can hook a DVD player up to?

Thanks!

Im currently working on this.... .. keep ya posted ! It will involve adding a DVD player, and splicing into the wiring , to play on your current screen.

There is a guy in town here that made this switching box for my Alpine to defeat the "safety" feature that has been doing this with Lexus' and BMW's for awhile. If you can't figure it out, give me a ring and I'll try to get a hold of him. I still have his email.

Kloogy,

You figure a way to do this (so I can do it - great caveat)- I'll send you a bottle of Jack.

I've been cursing the CD based Nav since I found out the Infinitis are DVD based.

To me its no huge deal. I never really drive outside the surrounding 4 states! BTW, I have a burned copy of the Western US (CA, NV, AZ) if someone wants to trade.

I think these guys are more interested in playing DVD movies on their NAV screen.

Wait wait wait, this is a CD BASED navi? That is retarded. I swear I heard it was a DVD based. So I gotta have a disc for each region I presume them? I hate changing discs. And yes I drive all over the place.

Yes, a CD is required for each of the 6 regions should you travel outside of it.

Thanks!

BTW: How much are those CD's each? I know I get my first annual one free...

Look in your Navi manual to see the regions. They are $110 if you go through 800-Nissan-1. I know you can burn them, because I have a burnt working copy of Nav 5.1.

Not all Infiniti's are DVD based. I know that the Q45's is DVD based, and maybe the G35, but the I35's Navi is not. It's CD based. My dad's I35 came with Navi (wish mine had it now) and was ****ed when he had to order separate discs for each region.

Ouch, Scott!

Didn't mean to touch a nerve there. I forgot you're in Bourbon country. Actually, I usually get Bookers or Makers Mark but I know there are a lot better ones out there.

Tell you what. Kloogy figures it out, writes up a how to (I know how much that'll **** you off after all the magnificent work you've done setting your car up like a sports bar i.e. screen for each person) .
And I'll send him a 6 of his favorite import, you send him a bottle of B... or.... we can all hook up and drink it one weekend.

Meanwhile.. I'll not mention the B word around you W. Virginia / Tenn. hillfolk.

Hey guys, I've been gone for 2 weeks on an army 'vacation'...

Anyways, I searched and I didn't find an update on the DVD-Navi System that was addressed a few times.

Has anyone played around with this yet to get an external DVD player to work on the screen?

Thanks guys, just looking for an update

Do a search. There was a thread last week that dealt with modifying the Navi to accept outside inputs (DVD, PS/2, etc.). A company in NY say's they done it and offer kits for europeons, but no asian cars. They charge $900 for the input mod only or $1400 to include a DVD player. They also told me that there are other shops they work with across the country that can do it.

A little pricey for me. Said they may have a $450 do it yourself kit in 6 mos or so.
