From what I have seen it doesnt look good at all. Nissan will lose alot of its current Maxima customers and will join the older crowd most likely. The 89-03 the last of a breed!

Looks awesome..looks better than the 5th gen by far. Only thing I think could use a little work is making the rear end a little sportier. It still looks better than the current 5th gens rear-end. I have a 4th gen and I think 3rd gen < 4th gen < 5th gen < 6th gen... Styling gets better every year folks.

You guys are missing the point of the new car... it's supposed to lose customers it has now, they intended that. The V6 Altima is taking the place and market segment of the Maxima we have now, and this one's going to move a bit more upscale.

the looks are debatable....let's let the performance number do the talking....

I'm also thinking that late 2003 might be a great oportunity to pick up a 5th gen at an excellent price....

i dont know what to think right now. i want to see more pics first. i actually like the new altima. with the right set of wheels and a drop that car looks pretty good, imo. and yes i do believe that nissan is trying to move the altima into the current maxima market segment.

i remember the first pic of the M45 and thinking that car was ugly. i went to the dealer when they finally got one and now i love it. i really want one bad, for my new blvd cruiser. black on black with factory spoiler all i needed was %20 tints.

well, i have 2 say my overall opinion is mixed...my opinion is that as time goes on the maxima stock jus gets uglier, but modded the newer ones always look better...a 3rd gen stock looks better than 4th or 5th stock, but a 4th ot 5th w/ a bodykit kills a 3rd gen w/ 1...only thing that kills it 4 me is the rear...they got rid of the circle tails (which i hated) but the truck jus needs 2 b longer...reminds me even goin back 2 the older sentras and altimas...especially on the older altimas, the trunk jus looks like u took the last foot off of it...oh well...

egh not really sure, about the taillights, kinda liked the 5th gen ones better than these, and I wish nissan would ditch the flat fender flares, thats one thing I love about my third gen is the nice round curves above the wheel wells

sometails with alittle carbon fiber would have been cool, or something like the housing of the supra tails with the gray around them.

edit* the more I look at it the more I like it

If you look closely at the enlarged picture, the cluster looks exactly as the one in the Altima.

I love those tails you did. That makes it look a lot more like a 4DSC instead of a luxury car.

The more I look, the more I like. It was like the 5th gen at first...I hated the rear, and now I love it, especially with the 2k-2k1 se tails. I am sure a lot more of you guys, given time, will like this car. I think it has potential. But then again we have not really seen the front. From looking at the Brian V photos, the front end looks nasty, though it is disguised.

I notice how Freshalloy commented on how Nissan is slowly trying to bring back the "sport" in 4 Door Sports car. Since it left after the 3rd gen I think the new look will grow on all of us, as the rims and springs and bodykits start being put on. Also, I have heard some pretty good rumors about the specs. As I mentioned, but it doesnt seem anyone paid attention IT SAYS 3.5 ON THE PASS SIDE REAR and as Nissan has been hinting, it will share a Z soul...*HINT* 3.5 350z motor 287hp. It is going to be in a G35 class and seems to almost be on the platform, which means RWD and of course bring back the "sport" means no more beam so 287hp RWD with IRS seems to be the solid rumor. I would buy one over any other gen besides the 3rd. Trust me they will look better, I wasnt fond of the 2k's or even the new Z, but they do grow on you.

you bashers .. chop off the taillights and those honda look alike excuses for headlights ( ), slightly lift the rear roof (before the rear window) so it's less VW like and that thing will be one of the best (if not the best) looking sedans when it comes out.

like it or not it makes the accords and camrys look dull. and frankly nissan is competing with these two models...

so, 'me like'.

FINALLY a nice picture of the 2004 maxima, call it what you want guys but this is the first GOOD pic of the 2004 max and compared to the others, this sh*t looks hot ta def...maxima is not a sports car, remember....it's basically gonna be like the altima, has its nice sportiness mixed with luxury and can't really do anything to it to better its look for sportiness except throw a kit...but i like its look, definitely better than other pictures posted...i want to see the front and inside though...and specs????

MOST BMW's????????..... um..thats what I was REALLY refering to but I didnt want to compare as it is RWD to FWD....so I picked volvo

Look at the 5 series, and yes the 3 series....even if the front sits higher then the back it still gives the "effect" of a sleek look...

stock 4'4 maximas (4gen+) look like boats in water with the front so high....not BMW...check again

Why is everyone saying "2004 maxima" its actually a 2005, even though it will be released in 2004. The shape of our maximas change every 5 years.

As far as looks, I dont like it.

The ending of the org is near.
