Honestly, I don't like the way it looks from that pic. It doesn't look aggressive anymore (if that's the final design), and even a set of nice rims wouldn't help. It's too Altima looking, and I never liked the Altima from day one, and it has not grown on me whatsoever.
Nice post.

so basically its an Altima with some minor asthetic changes...the only factor that is gonna sepearate the two will be the motor and drivetrain I guess right??

Anyone know if it will have teh Z engine or be RWD?

I've read that January 5th the "official" specs for the '04 Quest and Maxima will be released.
I'm hoping for an AWD model; they built the platform to support it for some reason, and I hope the new Max was that reason!
[Although honestly, I sincerely doubt AWD will be an option...]

looks as if there is dual exhausts, not just dual tips...seen more clearly on a bigger image of the same pic above.

Interesting that FreshAlloy has slapped their logo on a copyrighted Nissan photo.

I seriously like it!
VTEC.net did the same thing when some official 03 Accord photo's were "leaked".
I think Honda sorta officially "leaked" them only to VTEC.net, though, and gave them permission to put their logo on it. FA may have a similar deal

They were doing so good with maxima designs and now it has come to this. I don't like it because it's too bulky. I understand its supposed to more of a family but with the engines they put in it they could at least make it look like it has power.

it couldve been worse. it's not that i don't like the design, but it looks like the 6th gen has lost any identity of it's own. the maxima's styling has always been distinctly maxima. i'm not feeling this altima/ fairlady z design for the maxima.

Re: 2004 Maxima picture
I was just about to say that, but you beat me to it. Looks like a beefier Ford Taurus. SHO boys will be happy.

Well, at least Nissan is consistent with the max...
as in, exterior styling keeps getting worse after the 3rd gen...
Even if it gets a meaty drivetrain it'll probably lose more sport value, which I think has been going down since the third gens as well (though I haven't driven a 3rd gen personally, just have rode in them).

well its time to take the maxima of my list of new cars i would buy. That looks just like am Altima with some flare added to it. This thing better come with some SICK engine/trany/drivetrain combo(V8/6spd LSD/AWD)to change my mind.
Also i think cars are getting way to sreamlined and starting to look all the same, where is some of the boxines from the 90's where cars did look different. And is that supposed to be a spoiler on the back?

You guys are all hilarious.
When the 2000 max came out..everyone said the same thing...it's UGLY.
It's because we naturally are resistant to change...and see change as negative. Personally I think it looks kind of cool. The rear end looks NOTHING like an altima...more like a 350z....the dual tips are sweet looking, and the rims are really nice. You can't really get a clean shot of the front end yet, so a judgement that it looks just like an altima is WAY off base.
Get off your soap boxes and EMBRACE change.

I find it amusing that so many people are resistant to change.

I think it looks like an old man boat myself. If someone would have told me that the car in the picture is a new cadillac model, I would have believed them. I'm not "resistant to change", thats just my opinion of the car. It's kinda like how the older 300zx looks much better than the 350z, everyone pretty much agrees with that, right?

Not too impressed..
But then again, I was impressed with the pictures of the 350 when they first started appearing. Does anyone remember what the first picture of the new 350 looked like? And this is what the third or fourth picture of the Maxima.
I'll wait till its actually on the lot.
