Is it me or do the body side lines flow kind of like a Jetta/Passat on steroids.

This one will have to grow on me until I see on on the road.

Looks a lot like the Alitma with Z accents, like the small winglet of a spoiler and the wheels. I don't like the tail lights that much, it's gonna take some getting used to.

I just can't get myself to like this whole direction of car stylists making often grossly oversized front and rear light assemblies that take up the whole corner of a car. I am not too fond of the G35 due in part to that styling cue, let alone this photo.

Oh well...keep the AE for a while.

Pretty short life span for the 5th gens. Only 2000-2003. Kinda odd looking, sorta like a Z front and an Altima back.

Well, we already know it is coming off the same assembly line as the Altima, so I'd say...FWD.

Given that it has the "soul of the Z," I'd say the VQ35.

It looks like a stretched out Altima with a little bit of Z in the tail lights. It will be interesting to see the interior photos. I wouldn't be surprised if the six-speed option is gone on this one.

The soul of the Z and the auto tranny for your granny.

I'll just add that in talking to some of the corporate Nissan technicians, they very clearly told me that the Altima chassis was designed to be something that would "accomodate all-wheel drive", so I don't know that that's totally out of the question.

wow, it looks a lot like a ford taurus, crossed with an altima. its not very attractive, but I'll need to see one on the road, i thought the g35 was ugly before I saw it in life. I'll be curious to see what they release in january.

door handles I like
roof line I like

flattened wheel arches I dont..
Trunk as an afterthought I dont
4x4 stance I dont like, same as other gens tho

that lip/spoiler on the trunk is an afterthought. Try to picture it without that.. ewwwww.

speaking to fit and finish.. the rear bumper, I'll assume the paint matches and the light is just being thrown off because the bumper isnt carrying down the lines/angle of the trunk.. I know, details... but still...

Well...
At least they took the orange/amber out of the tail lights

If you look close it appears as if the license plate lights are on the side of the plate now. However, they are not PIAAs Perhaps that's in the SE package???

It's not a bad looking car, just not a good looking Max. I really liked the Altima redesign to this platform because the previous ones were butt ugly. I like the way the 4th & 5th gen Max looks.

In any case, I hope it is REALLY ugly in person for serveral reasons:

1) My 2003 Polished Titanium is only 3 months old.
2) It would be nice to drive a car and have people say "that was the last year it looked good, too bad they changed it"
3) Hopfully our resale values will go up!

4WD would really be awesome. I can't wait for every manufacturer to make cars this way like Subaru. Just lock anti-lock brakes, it will catch on.

Fellas, At least we know what the car looks like. I don't see Avalon like so many of us were worried about. The car is being marketed as a sports sedan. The way I see it the car is still true to the Maxima image. I think the car would look great in Majestic Blue or Black.

What is it with Nissan? It looks like the have a deadline and they spend so much time on the front and sides of the car. Then they get up close to the deadline and have to stick something on the back with lights, a truck and a bumper. Some body please tell them to make the rears look good. That is what most drivers are going to be seeing anyway.

I believe that's true, but it was done for the Murano, which has AWD, at least as an option, and is based on the Altima platform.

AWD Altima......
