WTF?
I think it will grow on me. The headlights look a little G35ish to me. The rear end isn't so bad, especially with dual exhaust. They gotta do better with that spoiler though. And what's up with Nissan making Maximas all sit lower in the back? I say drop the front down an inch or so, and give it a tougher stance. Funny cause, it looks like the all new accord could fit inside this beast!
I can't wait for the N. American Auto Show in Detroit! I'll be there!

Neither did I. I admit, the 5th gen took me some getting used to, but it still had the look of a "Maxima". This is just TOTALLY different.
But if the RWD/AWD statements are true, this is really a TOTALLY different car (that just happens to use the name Maxima).

I think the car is elegant. What I have always liked about the Maxima, particularly since the 4th gen, is it's spacious interior, and it's mix of luxioury and power combined with a manual transmission. I took a high interest in the the 4th get because of it's powerfull VQ30 engine. I was not too enthusiastic with the tail lights but the entire design grew on me. Same thing happen with the 5th gen which I really like (and own). Still, the back lights alone make me look at it twice and wonder but then I quickly change views and am happy again. I am hoping they make the 6th gen AWD, extremely competitive in performance (particularly acceleration) and gas consumption. Oh, and take their interior luxury up a notch.

Ok I've looked at this maxima a million times and I can see the good designs. Don't discredit it yet. You only have one view. Wait til you see it at different angles, wait til you here the hp and torque. I guarantee a lot of you will change your mind about it.
Ithink the new Altima look awesome and the 350Z looks awesome. That's what this car is, a cross between the Z and Altima. The only thing I don't like is the spoiler. I think those little lip spoilers have been ugly on every car yet. I hope they have different options for that. But besides that the car looks sweet. If you haven't already, you'll come around.

I've been trying to get that change and a lot of other changes without success. My web person has abandoned me. I won't sell many dashes with that web site for sure!

I dunno about you guys, but I kinda like it
But I won't know for sure until I see it in person. When I first saw pics of the 350z, at certain angles, I thought it was too long, but when I saw it in person, I was completely blown away!! Same with the Murano, when I saw pics of it in the paper, I thought it was kinda ugly, but when I saw that in person as well, I actually liked the styling.
I can't wait to see this one in person. I hope for the auto they put in a 5-spd (c'mon, even the Accord has one now, plus most of the up-market cars have one already) and I hope they don't do extensive cost cutting like they did with the Alty

I think the problem is that the rear bumper is way too big and the trunk lid is microscopic by comparison. The size of the rear bumper gives the new Max more of a SUV like or tank like look to the rear.
The new Altima does not have such a large rear bumper and the rear looks good.
I think we can all agree that the 4th gen is at least a good looking
car and the reason is that there is beauty in simplicity. The 4th gens body style flows without any overly ornate areas. The 6th fails by being too busy in design.
I love I35 Coupe Style.

Actually, the 5th gen is getting the same life span as the 1st, 2nd, and 4th gens which is 4 production years. The only generation that has gone longer than all is the 3rd gens which has 6 production years, but they did kind of revised it for 93-94. Really looking at this new maxima though, it looks like they took the front end and rear end of a Z, and stuck a altima body in between. Also, I noticed that this new one seems to sit like a 2nd gen, with the rear-end slightly lower than the front. Either way, word is it will start with a VQ35DE, with FWD. AWD is a possibility, and they may use the VK45DE, but RWD is most likely out of the question. Nissan hasn't made a rear wheel drive maxima since 84, and they be picking a hell of a time going back now. Either way, expect the maxima to share a lot of components with the 350z. They been doing it since the maxima was the 810. Just happened that this time around, the 350z gets a beefed up maxima motor instead of the other way around.

This is the 6G Max? Damn its ugly.
There is a reason i bought another 3rd gen over anything else - best build quality with ind. rear suspension. - 97-99 maximas are next on my fav list.
With the way Nissan designers are coming up with these ugly cars, looks like i'll be keeping with my old car, and getting either a:
Lexus IS - I6, stick, 4w ind. sus., rwd - w/ poss. of turbo
Mazda6 - right size, 4w ind sus, v6, stick, fwd - does that formula sound familiar? Oh yeah - just like my 3rd gen.
Only Nissan/infiniti car i would get is the G35 coupe!

glad to see the 3rd gens are still the best looking maximas ever...from tha azz to the front, i luv my 92 se body styling over all tha other model years!!!! hopefully an after market body kit could help out a lil with the 6th gen if nissan is going to keep this design....too bad they don't come to the org and read all the negative feedback on the styling here!!!

Re: Official Photo of the 2004 Nissan Maxima - Soul of the Z® Wrapped In A Premium Sport
Well, the 2k4 IMHO looks like utter TRASH stock, but there are a couple good photochops of it that show it's potential to look much better... It SCREAMS out for a bodykit from the side and the front will be a grille designers best dream come true...
