it should still be similar- minus a few buttons. most upscale nissans/ infinitis are headed toward integrating HVAC and audio display into one screen. even without nav, they would still need the screen like in the murano, q45, m45, fx35/45.

You are correct they use it for the trip computer, so even if you get it without the Nav that screen is their for the trip computer!

So you're saying that NAV or no NAV you still get the screen, correct?

Nissan isn't the best when it comes down to attention to detail, so for all we know maybe they didn't.

But as soon as the cockpit gets warm it'd probably be okay.

the main difference between the nav and non-nav is the screen itself. models with nav will get a full color lcd display where as the non-nav will probably get an orange monochrome display.

here's the one from the murano:

ooOooOooOOOOooooo....that looks pretty sweet

I suppose they'll probably just lift that from the Murano and into the Maxima then. It might suck, though. I drove an Altima and it had that same orangish display angled up slightly. That sucker got COMPLETELY washed out in the sun to the point where I couldn't even see it worth a crap.

I hope Nissan spent a few extra R&D dollars to handle the glare problems on the Maxima.....

Yes Steve it is very similiar to the one that Maxima Zero shows for the Murano, I saw it at Nissan Corporate Office in Irving,Tx were my wifes works. Where the trip computer was on the 02/03's is a Gear/park indicator on automatic models.

This made me think about something that will probably be another issues when the 04's roll out. Do you guys have a clue about the trim packages that will be offerred and the rules on them? Like, in my 2K, if you wanted th BOSE, you needed leather, etc. Or if you wanted the auto-climate control, you needed leather and the bose packages...

Any clues? rumors?

you could get a display like that, but you'd also need navigation.

Even with navigation, there's nothing more soothing to the eye than ALL of the console lights (nav, gauges, radio control, etc.) the same color...and that orange reminds me of something from 1985. I like the design though, I'm just being picky.

Could anybody photoshop the interior pic of the 04 with that type of blue or any phat color?

I doubt it. I bet the guys workng in Nissan R&D are related to the CEO. They screwed up a lot on 4th and 5th Gen cars. Now I see they put in some time develping the 6th gen too. Lot's of little things that are cheap to include that other upscale cars have standard re missing. Why are they not in a Maxima? So they can put them in an Infiniti, and charge a lot more?

By the way, I forgot to look for a change holder in the 6th gen. Is there one??

You mean Jerry Hirschberg(sp)? He left Nissan a couple of years ago.
