drove 2004
drove 2004
The exterior has started to grow on me. I do not like the rear window treatment with the 'wings', nor do I care for the almost useless trunk opening. Sure the trunk could hold 3-4 bags of clubs, but how the heck do you get them in there? Through the back seat? On the really good side, the Bridgestones seem to have disappeared, replaced by Continental ContiSports. Finally a better tire!
On the interior, the dash appears to 'float' with a carpet surrounding the edges of the dash, even along the windshield. Yuk! Forget about the center portion of the dash, reminds me of a 2004 Caddy CTS coming at me! Too many buttons, too small buttons, and the joystick from hell. The three spoke steering wheel is a far cry from the four spoke in my 2002. Other than that the interior is roomier, and the rear seat passengers have a view over the front seat people.
Almost forgot about the ride. The ride is a little smoother than my 2002 SE. Same engine, slightly tamed torque steer, does not feel as quick -- maybe psychological due to increase in size. Practice your three point turns 'cuz it feels like turing a cruise ship.
Nissan, give me a 2004 with the dash of a 2002-2003, kill the torque steer, fix the steering and you have a deal. Don't, and I am driving my last of 5 maximas. Loyalty does have limits.
