Although I'm still a fan of Max's and as I mentioned before, the '04 just isn't warming up to me somehow. This is how I figured the ppl. at Nissan decided to create the '04 Max..

Nissan was probably saying to themseves "OK we've got the Altima, let's stretch it out some, change some things front and back, like adding a funky grille up front, use slightly better interior materials and add a "burnt orange" leather option, use the same 255hp 3.5L VQ in the 5th gen, but add 10 more hp. to it, put some 18" rims on the SE, 17" on the SL, neglect the torque steer issue, keep a 4-speed auto, strictly for the SL while introducing a 5-speed manumatic for the SE, add the (hideous) Skyview roof, change the door handles, add a 2-seater option for the rear, paint it in orange, slap the "MAXIMA" and "3.5 SE (or SL)" emblen, and voila, the '04 Maxima"

Sorry but i'll take the last of the well-made '03 SE or GLE loaded at a great deal while they last
