What will 18" performance tires cost?

What will 18" performance tires cost?
Have any 2004 owners or potential owners considered this cost? I cringe every time I think of having to buy those 17" Michelin Pilot Sport A/S tires for my 2001. The 18" tires have got to be even more.

Go to tirerack website... I think most tires are $200+ each (plus shipping and installation). Most performance tires don't last over 20K miles anyways. Plan on new tires every year.
But as larger wheels become more common, tire prices will drop as more tiremakers enter the market for those sizes.
Larger wheels are more fashion than function. I'm sure most owners will switch over to generic all-season tires that are hard as rocks and last a little longer....

You bring up a point I make to so many people. Upkeep in these new cars is more than before. When cars had 15" tires, you go through them maybe every 2-4 years. With 17" or 18" tires, you can possibly go through them 6months to 1- 2years. Big difference. In price as well. So what happens. We have people driving around with bald tires left and right cause it costs a pretty penny for the tires i.e more accidents.
ALso, I blame car designers. They make all cars so damn big and tall now they have to put 17, 18 hell 20" tires on cars to make them look proportionate. Otherwise the car looks ugly and ungainly.
Bigger tires also=more wear and tear on the suspension, more alignments are needed, more bent wheels (less tire to protect), headaches enthusiests can expect (or if you have more than 1 car, you don't have to worry as much)but the average consumer just does not understand.
