G35 vs. 2k4 Max

My dad has now narrowed down his car search to the G35 Sedan auto fully loaded with nav and the 2k4 Max SL fully loaded with elite and nav. Has anyone owned both? Personally, as long as he's gettin a nissan/infiniti i'm really happy, although being a max owner I would like him to get a max also. A 6-speed tranny is out of the question because his hip pain disables him from clutching. Any thoughts?

i would rather get the g35 sedan, looks alot better IMO, will handle much better, and you wont suffer from torque steer. you also get that great infiniti service and the loaner cars!

Yeah, that's what I was thinking. Personally, I haven't had the greatest luck with the nissan staff, their salesmen are morons and the dealerships in the area have the worst repair managers I've ever seen. Guess a test drive will finalize this one...

Yeah, its almost final now.

Saturday morning my dad went to test drive the G35 and he really liked it. He also test drove a BMW 530i today, and said he would probably take the G35 over it. I went by the dealer a couple hours later and test drove the same car he did. It was a black G35 auto, with aero kit and the beige leather. Inside the showroom they had one with black leather and that car looks hot as f**k. I think the car has much more pickup than the 2k4 maxima, but I couldn't take it full because I had 2 of my friends in the back and the dealer in the front, i drive best alone. lol Alright guys, gonna go to sleep. Peace

another thing is that if you convince your dad to get the infiniti, you would be saving him a **** load of headaches - car dealerships can be a pain in the **** sometimes.....goto g35driver.com and talk to them, they would list some great dealerships in your area

I had a G35 and sold it to buy the Max. The G35 was just to small for me and the family.

If size isn't an issue for your father I would recommend the G35. The 2004 Maxima is a great fwd car but the G35 has a better warranty and customer service something that should be very important in his selection.

You went from the G35 coupe to the Maxima sedan. Why leave out the G35 sedan?

I had the sedan and the coupe. Traded the sedan for the Max. the only place that the G35 sedan shines over the Max is rear wheel drive. Me and my wife both think that the Max has a better interior and ride.

Pretty much all car sales men are morons...

sorry if the reality of this offends anyone here who may have chosen this profession... but this really shouldn't be a shock to you.

$516/Mo with $1300 down. I got quotes from $617/Mo to $513/Mo with $1300 to $2100 down...I went with this deal b/c the dealer came recommended by who else, but my Nissan Dealership. So if you factor in the referral awards the Sales and Leasing Manager at the Nissan Dealership will get, I know I could've gotten the same $513/Mo one dealer quoted, but hey, for $3/Mo it was a nobrainer to take care of two people who have taken care of me.

FYI for future negotiating, never negotiate based on monthly cost. Always negotiate on total cost.

$516/mo with $1300 down could be -

$19876
$26068
$32260
$38452

I think that the g35 sedan is a very ugly car. I would definetly choose maxima over it. but thats just my opinion.

Sorry, I was on Vacation for a week! You are right, but in my case it's a lease with 20K in miles a year for work, so all I care about is the monthly payment. The final sale price was a hair under $38K, and seeing as no other dealer around here even had any model near what I wanted in the color I wanted my bargaining power was a little more limited than usual. Have a good one.

I bet you are happy to be back! lol

I really hope they "fix" what I consider to be problems with the G35 (basically the ergonomics) that way I can get one for my wife I would really like it if they made a convertable.

That's as real as Photo Shop will allow! ;-)

A convertible would be sweet.

The G35 looks much better. Sweet mother of God the new Maxima is hideous! Nissan is dead to me.

That is what I thought, I didn't know if I missed something.

That is a nice photoshop job, it looks sweet.

Fix the controls (ie seat controls) and make it a convertable and I think I will eat the loss and trade in the Max...

Considering that:

1. The 350Z has gone topless, so Nissan's already done the engineering homework on the same platform as the G35C.
2. A G35C convertible would compliment the 350Z in terms of marketability, without either of them cannibalizing the other's market.

I see a G35C convertible coming real soon. It will go after the A4, BMW 3, Mercedes CLK convertible market, whereas the 350Z will be in the Corvette, Audi TT, and SLK market.

a g35 convertible would definitely be great, infiniti just has to work on their pricing, its too similar to nissan

the new max is too similar to the saturn ion. Its UGLY! Too over priced and too close to the altima. Go with the G35, it looks sweet and it out performs BMW according to motor trend reviews.

G35 vs Max

I didn't like the max at first, but it has grown on me pretty fast. Especially the back, resembling the shape of the 350Z. It's a nice spacious car with enough ***** under the hood. If it was RWD I'd consider it again, but until than, I'd go with a 6spd RWD G35.

I love the back of the new max and it's funny, after driving my wife's 02 for a year + now, I was not at all impressed with the G35's power...I mean I was happy with it, very happy, but not blown away like I was when I test drove the 02 SE after having my 00 SE...I hope that makes sense.

I think a lot of it has to do with the fact that the "TipTronic" type shift does not allow for the seat of the pants feel that the 02-03 3.5 Engines do when mated to the tranny they are with...The 02-03 trannys, while it may not be as good for the transmission it self, seems to have more of a kick you in the back of the seat feel when you mash the accelerator down...it might just be me, but unless you are racing at the track or on the highway, seat of the pants is what you experience most of the times.

You forgot to mention that the Max turns like a battleship and handles like an 18 wheeler stock OK, that's a slight exaggeration
