Finally came in...

Well the day i've been long awaiting finally came. Got my 04 today and damn is my heart still going crazy over it. Very pleased with the car, i absolutly love it. For the most part i have no complaints, and a lot of the little things make me like it more, half of which i didnt know even existed. Tho i dont like the bose system, I feel like the bass is just week in it, idk maybe cuz i'm going from a huge system down to this, but it just doesnt feel like it was worth it for the extra grand. but then again maybe the changer and other options make it better. I definatly feel the torque steer, and its a lot different then the steering in the intrepid. Its big like the trep but i just gotta get used to it a little. One night of having and i love it, and so does everyone that has gotten to ride in it at that. Very pleased.

I guess I am not much of an audiophille. I don't like a lot of bass, just well balanced music. In that respect, I think it is more than adequate. I can see where it wouldn't compete on the same level as the high end aftermarket systems, but it is aimed at middle aged men which usually aren't listening to booming systems.

Yeah true I don't really care for bass that much as well, but my Bose in my car doesn't even compare to Bose stereo my friend has in his 2001 Audi A4 1.8. Nissan Bose sucks compared to that system.
And that rattle of the subwoofer in the back doesn't make things better. 2000 did it 2002 does it and I hear now that 2004 Max rattles in the back as well. And I am not talking about alot of bass or loud music either.

True, but Nissan Bose hasnt always sucked......the Bose system I had in my 97 Maxima sounded really great, even at high sound levels......when I heard the 02 Bose in my Maxima I thought WTF?

I don't have the rattle, and I often listen to it in the upper 20s. I will have to get in the back seat and see.

I agree that the sound system could be better, and for the money it is probably a rip off, but then again what factory upgrade option isn't a rip off? They figure that you can spend a bit more with them, or deal with the head ache of getting it done elsewhere.

Perfect example - $2000 navigation systems...

Nissans Bose has sucked since 2000, the 89-99 Maxima's BOSE system sounds much better than the systems in the 2000 and up Maximas. Oh my 350 the BOSE in its so horrible worse than any Max!

I'm not thrilled with the Bose, not that it's that bad, it just doesn't give me the sound I'd like to experience.

Has anyone experience ANY factory-installed system that's decent, in any car?

Yes, as I stated before in this thread, the Bose in my 97 Maxima absolutely sounded GREAT!! I guess that is why I am so disapointed with the Bose in my 02....

This is out of complete curousity, i was told that the car has an amp in it, would it be possible to switch amps to my old kenwood, recconect all the speakers to it and then put the subs in with out adding an new headunit? I miss the bass that it put out but i wasnt sure if it was even possible. The color combo is magestic blue with frost cloth, i think it looks great personally. Oh and i had a run in with a past year model today, some old guy was checking out and what not then cut me off and almost ran me off the road...it made me snap and my road rage came out but oh well. So much for brotherly love between generations of maximas...

lol

I haven't really heard too many stock radios that have sounded real good with anything other than the speakers/amps that they came with.

Good luck

what you can do is adda line out converter and add the subwoofer and amp to push it and keep the factory speakers and head unit. there isnt any support out yet for adding aftermarket stereos to the new maxima. unless of course you find some then you can let me know.

The real problem is that Bose sound systems suck period. Bose is a marketing company that happens to make sound systems. Bose uses cheap paper cone speakers that are very efficient, that's why they sound better than the 200 watt speakers that are powered by a 50 watt head unit. I'm afraid that if you add a higher powered amp that you would end up blowing the speakers. Some of the Bose systems have "powered speakers", meaning that the amp is a part of the speaker. The signal coming from the head unit is just that, a signal.

For their home audio stuff, who would've ever thought that a four inch full range speaker would have any low end? Bose uses resonance chambers to get the low frequencies that's how. That is their forte, they put their speakers in small packages and use elaborate resonance chambers to get bass. The sound from their systems are "in your face" because of the small drivers. But for the money they charge you could get a system that would blow away the Bose.

The reason why the Bose system in cars does not have any bass is because the only resonance chamber is the trunk, but the problem is that it's too big with no channels. The only solution for bass in the Max's is to add a Bazooka tube or similar subwoofer.

yes you will definately need to get a powered subwoofer. but you can keep your stock bose amps and speakers and just add the sub and amp for it.

Yeah im going to look into that, because i just want the subs, and the effect it has. I've been having to drive the intrepid latly and the only thing i miss is the chrome rims the system and the neons, but damn is that things slow, i used to think it was pretty fast, not anymore. Now it has a partially flat tire so its out of commision, i think im going to take most of the stuff out and just sell it basically stock.
