Air Intake Kit vs Climate

Considering to install an intake kit in my 04 max (delivery by mid August, hopefully). From the pictures available on the net, these cone filters look pretty much unprotected and exposed to rain and moisture. Since I drive in Canada, I wonder if this would be a good idea considering the climate (snow, slush, salt, etc.). Any advices or recommendations, or is this mod appropriate only for dry climates like in the southern US ? Thanks.

I see no reason why it would be an issue.

I am not convinced that the new air intake kit is better than the current cold air induction that is on there. I want to see some HP info, before and after before I go for it. I am not sure it is going to improve anything.
