Gotta be careful!
As much as I love that subtle titanium finish and the sportiness it exudes, I'm noticing that it's susceptible to scratches and nicks, certainly more so than vinyl. There are a couple of tiny marks around my shifter and another couple on the cup holder concealment doors in front of the rear console (I have the rear buckets with the Elite Package), and I'm not quite sure if there's a way to seamlessly disguise them.
To be honest, I'd like to replace all that faux metallic garb with something more durable, like matte stainless console pieces or at least a material that retains the sensibilities of the SE without being overly fragile. If anyone's got suggestions in that regard, do tell.

zymol detail
i use zymol detail wax on the interior...it really shines up the fake wood and the titanium pieces look better...it is at zymol.com...it is a small amount for $15-$20...
you use your finger to apply and a soft cloth to buff out...i have no scratches, but have had car for only 3 months.

Thanks for the tips, mikenatas and lwebb 12. I use zymol products a lot, and have always been rewarded.
As for the metal dash kits, I'll look, but if you have a link, that would be much appreciated. It seems like it might be early for 2004 mods to be readily available, but perhaps something is already out there.

I bet the brushed aluminum kit would look swank. The only problem I see is that I also need some fixtures for the rear console, but otherwise, this looks cool. I'd love to see some pics if anyone has the aluminum gear installed, regardless of what year your Maxima might be.
Thanks, lwebb12.

tattoo wrote this in a thread titled "Dash Kits for 2004 Maxima":
This stuff really looks like junk.
i ordered a kit once from them for my celica in carbon fiber and it was the worst kit i've ever seen.i had to return it.very cheesy looking carbon fiber, very thin and not cut very well.just my 2c

I can see how carbon fiber might be more prone to trouble. Surely real brushed aluminum wouldn't be a candidate for similar shortcomings ... or would it?
But thanks for the cautionary tale. I've done some searches this morning, and I can't find anything more appealing for the 2004 model year. Perhaps another option will surface.
