I think there was one person that said they got below invoice, most of us are getting around invoice to invoice +500, some people have paid close to MSRP.
It all depends on your negotiating skills and the market in your area.

I would like to see the opinion of an 2002/03 Maxima owner that traded their car fo the 2004. The 2000/01 owners alwasy say their is a big difference between their car and the new 2004 but I think the gap may not be as wide between the later 5th gen Maxima and the 04. Of course the rear suspension is definately better though on the 04!

If speed is the primary concern, I would tell everyone to buy an 02/03 and trick it out a bit.
I love all Maximas'each are leaders in thier specific era.

P.s. A co-worker got a silver 6th gen and it looks really nice. That wheel gap in the front is overwhelmingly different from the rear gap but it's not atrocious. I don't personally want one because I can't stand the raised seating position but it is otherwise a very nice car.

I had an 01 AE for a year then traded up for 02 SE; significant improvement all around. Still have the 02, but just purchased an 04 SL and have driven several SE's. If I could, I'd have two 6th gens. The car is terrific. srm

You all should check with your company's HR departments if you work for a big company. IBM has deals setup with Nissan, GM, and Ford (including Jag, Volvo and the rest of their stable) where we get special pricing without hassle. Nissan/Infiniti is called the VIP plan and gets you in, on average, at 4% below invoice. Ford's X-Plan is the best of the bunch since I can just walk in and ask for my price on any vehicle with any option combo. They just print it out and hand it to me. Anyhow, I'm sure the auto makers have these deals with other companies too so you should look into it.

VPP can be extended to friends and family of Nissan employees. I've had the benefit of it twice so far. It may not always be available for all models. To my knowledge, it hasn't been extended to "friends" for the Maxima. Only "family". Fortunately, i was able to use it on my 04 Max, and previously on the 03 Max. Wouldn't have bought the car without it. If I would have been faced with paying sticker for my car, $36k and some change, I probably would have waited for the discounts to come. Instead, I was able to get into our Max literally 2 weeks into release. Talk about first on the block...I think I was among the first in the county! srm
