Still not seeing ANY new max's on the road in Chicago/burbs
Hi,
I drive an '03 Max, and was one of the ppl pretty disappointed w/ the new design of the Maxima. Frankly, I am still not seeing any of these new Maximas on the road... plenty of 'em at the dealerships.. are they still selling pretty poorly? Does anyone else have a different opinion/observation?
Thanks,
Pete

I work in Warrenville. There are 3 in my parking lot, which is 2 too many. I like the exclusivity of the Maxima. (Unlike Accord/Camry)
However, they are scarce on the road.
I mostly see them being test driven around the Gerald Nissan Dealership in Naperville.

I see tons of them in NYC. Looking at Nissan's website ( www.nissannews.com ), Maxima sales are up from last year, so yes, they are selling.

I still don't believe the '04 max is gunna cut it like the '03 and previous generations did...

Well its the truth I rarely see any of them in this area or in the DFW area in general and I am out and about alot. Heck their arent alot of 02/03's around here either but way more 00/01's and 95 and 96's.

I don't know about DFW in general because I'm not out and about that much.
Do we agree on terms? You said rarely. I said I can identify 6 distinct cars including mine, in the Lewisville area. I rarely see one of the other 5.
I've only been looking for them for the last 8 or so weeks, since I bought mine. I would estimate that between my house near Lewisville and my office at DNT/Frankford I have seen about 12-15 of them in two months time. That would be about one every 4-5 days.
I wonder if this is a half full/half empty thang.

I agree with you about 00/01s but they have been out for 4 years. I certainly see more 02/03s than 04s.

Took a trip from suburban Philadelphia to the Jersey shore today and saw SIX '04 Maximas along the way.
The last one was coming down the Walt Whitman bridge in the opposite direction at dusk and those HID headlights are definitely on the purplish/blue side...similar to Audi.
I wonder if that color is supposedly just as effective for driver visibility as the "whiter" bulbs that NHTSA is so ticked off about. I don't imagine they create the same glare for the oncoming motorist.

North suburbs, Norhbrook/Deerfield/Highland Park. Across the street from my office there's a carwash and I have only seen two 04s there. A guy has a silver SE with a moonroof he gets washed religiously. The other one was a black one, and the lady never came back.
Out and about, I see 04s on the road maybe once or twice a month, bar the test drives around 41 in HP. Those are pretty sad numbers.

I've seen 4 others all around 35 and 121. Parked as far away as I could from another white one (with dealer tags) at the Kroger at the same location (35 & 121).
I've noticed a few older gens around but often confuse them with Camrys and Accords so there may be more.
Was in Palm Springs in January. Lots of new Maximas there.
Interestingly, in Palm Springs most of the new Maxs seem to be owned by 20 somethings. Here in Grand Rapids, MI, I see a lot of new Maxs, but most are owned by older folks (50+ by my eye).

I see a few 6th gen Maximas in Houston, but not too many. I like that though....still get people ask me what it is sometimes.
What we have WAY too many of in Houston are the freakin little civics with the fart cans on them. GOD those irritate the crap out of me. Dont they know how stupid they look and sound??
I need to start carrying some large potatos around in my car......
