12V Outlet?

Is the stupid little plastic panel on the passenger's side of the center console really the only 12v outlet we have in the '04? I have a car cellphone charger (like everyone else, I presume) and was looking for where I plug it in. If it's just in that one spot, that'll really annoy me.

Isn't there one in the compartment under arm rest on the center console?

Yep, under the false bottom that pulls out, it's down in there pretty deep...

Cool cool. I'll check it out when I leave work today. I thought I had seen something about a false bottom, but couldn't remove the bottom on my first try, and I didn't want to force it if I turned out to be wrong.

Thanks.

Mine is more like a lift out tray. It has a hole in the bottom through which I pass the charger cable.

Just reach in and feel a hole that you can put your finger in on the upper inside of the driver side of the console, you should be able to put a finger there and give it a gentle tug and it will snap out.

I didn't notice the hole, but I haven't even looked in there much. I put my charger in the hide-a-way spot on the passenger side. Might be a better idea to put it in there though, since one of the prongs on my charger is broke and it doesn't like to stay in if anything is tugging on the cord

Those of you that haven't noticed the false bottom/tray, what car package do you have? Maybe that comes with one of the packages.

I like the one on the side of the console, the wire comes out through that hole, and I can plug it in and stick it in the compartment under the CD player

I have the driver preferred package. I hope it's not just available in the elite package or something.

I didn't realize the little panel on the passenger's side had a hole in it, that would make it a lot more useful, though it's still not exactly in an easy to reach place. I've only had the car for all of not quite 48 hours, so I'm still figuring some things out.

I have the driver preferred as well, so that isn't the issue.

I am guessing you aren't tugging on the tray hard enough

If you don't have the tray you should have a cavernous compartment with a 12v outlet at the bottom. There is a small opening which is covered by a hinged tab thing. That's the hole you can use to pass the cable through if you want to do it that way.

Don't forget to program your key fob to adjust your seats for you when you unlock the car.

I found the outlet... I just couldn't get a good enough purchase on the bottom to lift out the tray.

Unfortunately, the exit/entry auto helper thingamajig only works for the automatic transmission Maximas. Stupid Nissan. Why do they screw us manual guys? :P

This is different. You can program the key fob to move to preset 1 or 2 when you unlock. I've done it on my 6spd, it works. I don't think it's in the book, I read it on the org. Maybe you can search for it one day, good luck on that.
In short, adjust your seat/wheel/mirrors. Press the top button, press either preset 1 or 2 then press the unlock on the key fob while the light is still on/blinking. I'm working from memory, not sure about the blinking part. You can program a fob for either memory 1 or 2.

Hmmmmm, Got to check this out!

Also, for the Elite Packages you have a 12v in the arm rest in the back seat, too.

Oh, I had thought you were talking about the exit/entry feature. Yeah, the auto-repositioning I heard about from the salesman, but then he couldn't remember how to do it I decided not to call him on it, since he was a good guy besides that.

I'll futz with it tonight, see what the actual steps are.

I found the outlet last night, and hooked up my cellphone today... problem is that then the cellphone is inside a closed box, so I can't hear it when it rings. Oh well... I guess it's better than nothing.

If any one finds out how to do that, let me know. I looked but haven't found it yet.

It's an undocumented feature. Well, not completely undocumented because I read about it on the org. Within the last couple of weeks I think and it was probably on the 6th generation forum or I would have posted a link to it. You could try to search...
Just program either preset 1 or preset 2 as you normally would.
If your seats, mirrors and wheel are where you want them press, the top button to get into programming mode.
Select either preset 1 or preset 2.
Before the light on the selected preset button goes out press the unlock button on the fob.
You can program one fob for preset 1 and the other for preset 2.

I saw that you posted that, but the search feature is not working on the main site. I checked the test site and there was nothing there.

I will try this, thanks.

You're killing me. Just go try it. If it doesn't work I'll give your money back.

Makes you wonder what other tricks it will do that aren't in the book.
