Hey guys...

In my '93 GXE there is a coin holder in the center console next to the A/T switch, below the 12v dc outlet. I'm sure most of you have one. I used to have an '87 GXE (R.I.P...flipped it doing 75 mph, not a scratch on me or the wife)that had a really cool "drive computer" that was actually quite accurate. Anyways, I have no use for a coin holder: do any of you know of something that would work in its place? It is a great location for some kind of electronic gadget or display. Be creative....

Well, you could put a boost controller in there. But that would require some boost

I've been thinking about putting something in that spot too
since I have a 5spd, I don't have the power/comfort switch there either so I could fill that spot too
I just haven't come up with anything to put in there
give me some good ideas!!

spots

maybe good spots for a nitrous switch, adjustable shocks, aftermakrket fog lights, if you're real creative, to turn on that indoor lighting (neon sticks).

I am curious if the "drive computer" off of a 2nd Gen. Maxima would work, and how much hook-up would be involved? Are there any after-market navigation systems within a budget price? (I take a lot of long trips, mostly long highway miles).

Here's one idea

That space is pretty much unused in my Max also. You'd have to check for clearance underneath, but one idea is to make a mounting plate and install additional 12V outlets at this location.

I put my old (R.I.P.) '87 Max up on two wheels before going about 60 mph! I don't know who was more scared, me, or the oncomming car?

The Flip

Here is how I flipped it...('87 GXE) April of '98

I was on a four lane highway in western MN, about 20-30 minutes after sunset, cruising along at about 75 mph. I had my lights on, and I feel I am a very good a curtious driver. All of a sudden, a farm vehicle, some kind of hay wagon pulled out into my lane, in the right. The large wagon (about 8 ft. wide, and the bed about the same height as a semi flat bed)had no lights or slow moving vehicle sign on it, and was a dark, worn out wood color. It was impossible to see. Anyways, I swerved to miss it, go into the left lane, while hitting my brakes. I hit a patch of loose rock and gravel and it through me right into the grass between the four lanes. He kept driving, and by the time the state patrol got there, was long gone. The trooper somewhat believed me, but charged me with inexperienced and careless driving, making my insurance go up about 25%. My wife and are were without a scratch: A very solid car! ABS might have done me some good, but hard to say. Thanks for wondering.

If you don't already have fog lights, you should put the switch where it normally goes b/c it's prewired, a lot easier, and looks better with the origional switch. Hmmmm...HOW ABOUT A DEATH RAY THAT KILLS CIVICS!!!!

Check this one out...

http://members.optushome.com.au/artstar11/themax2.htm

Hit the Interior link and in there you'll see a somewhat fuzzy photo, but enough to see that the best thing for a coin tray is a green LED display for a voltmeter ... something very important that all cars should have. It pissed me off to live with a car that didn't have it. So I designed and made my own voltmeter to fit it.

If you want a daytime photo of it, let me know and I'll conjure one up.

They're actually bright orange in colour. It's just that the photo was taken in a shady area 3#-)

But if you really like them that much, maybe Courtesy Nissan can get them for you. It could be difficult, considering clear lenses aren't available here in Australia, you guys in the US may have the same problem in getting the orange lenses.

I still think the orange lenses aren't as cool as the clear lenses, but each to his own 3#-)
