Western Canadian Dealers (Pricing)

I'm going to be purchasing a 2004 Maxima SE within the week (fully loaded except NAV and Sunroof) but am hitting a wall with regards to negotiating a price. The best price I've been able to negotiate so far has been $40000 plus tax and PDI, which is still $1100 above MSRP. Has anybody been able to reach a better deal? People in the US seem to be able to reach a couple of hundred dollars above invoice. I am willing to travel anywhere within BC and Alberta to get a better price, please post the dealer, and whom to contact if anybody knows of a dealer that would be able to work out a better deal.

My dad bought an '04 from Mills and paid 32800 + tax for a 'base' SE which is about $3k below list (when freight and PDI is included). Go see Eddy at Mills and tell him that you don't put up with BS and he will look after you, and if you don't get satisfaction, pm me an I'll go over with you. Nothing ****es me off more that dealers trying to bend someone over.

I see you are from Edmonton, have you tried West End Nissan? I can't speak for the 2K4's but I bought my 2K2 from them and was able to negotiate a price about $3,500 below MSRP. Of basically all the dealers in Alberta (yes, I talked to most of them), West End Nissan was the most willing to negotiate and the most willing to get my business, although, to be honest with you, their customer service is not the greatest.

Unfortunately, I don't think it's really possible for us to get import cars for invoice price here in Canada, especially in Western Canada. But at least in Alberta, we don't have to pay PST!

I also recommend that you post this in the Canadian Forum, you might have better luck getting a response there.

You've had good luck with West End? Milt the Sales Manger is the biggest slime ball I have ever dealt with. Steer clear of West End IMHO and deal with either Mills or Sherwood (see Greg in sales there, my brother in law just bought a Spec V from him and he was good to deal with).

Pick a price that seems fair, call a dealer and tell them that this is what another dealer is willing to give you the car for, tell him exactly what the car needs to have and then have him beat it. If he beats it and you get the price you want, then go for it. If you are like me, take that price and send it off to a handful of dealers and start a bidding war.

When I went to get my 04 the dealer that I ended up buying from first quoted me over MSRP! I laughed and let the games begin. A few weeks later and I was right near invoice.

I wasn't overly happy with the way I was treated or my overall experience at West End, but after I negotiated a price there I took the offer to both Ericksen and Mills to see if they would match it (I would have rathered give them my business over West End). However, both dealerships literally laughed at me and told me there was no way they would give me that price. I don't know if they were just trying to drive me up in price, but I kind of doubt it because neither even bothered to make me a counter offer and I told them that I was going to buy the car from West End the next day if they couldn't match it.

I can tell you that I would never take my car to West End for service for sure, but as I said, they did seem to me to be the most willing to negotiate and the most eager to get my business.
