Another shaved to look at...

Finally took some pictures of my 2004 Maxima after a rather tenuous time waxing her for the first time. Took off the lettering on the rear before waxing with fishing line and Bug and Tar remover. As someone posted earlier it really takes ten minutes once you get the hang of it. I really recommend it as I think it looks real clean and it makes people wonder what you are driving.

Want to tint the windows but am concerned with issues of the Navigation system going haywire. New rims would be nice too but I think the factory ones will do for now. Outside of fingerprints inside of Nav-screen (what else is new), I have yet to have any problems with the car (cross my fingers). Even brought me a little luck last night in Atlantic City. Up 500 on blackjack. Craps table brought me back down to Earth though. Enough with the 3's and 11's already.

Anyway, let me know what you think about the pics.

that car is absolutely gorgeous. my dad test drove one that had bucket seats and a normal sunroof and was BRIGHT ORANGE, just like that, and i think its the best color nissan's come out with (its awesome on the Z car too). nice work on the washjob, and the shaved look is cool. something has to be done with the front tooth though...

I wasn't aware that tinting windows could obstruct the Naviagation System. Can you tell me more about this. I am going to get my 04' Max this week with Nav, and really want to tint soon. Thanks.

I have read on this site and another Maxima site (which I will not mention for free advertising) that the tint, depending on what tint you use on the windows, can adversely affect the Navigation/GPS system. If you look at this thread...

http://forums.maxima.org/showthread.php?t=244184

(If it does not come through, check on the middle of the fourth page with the thread titled "Nav System - Metalized Tint interference??" dated 8-29-03)

...some people have had problems with the tinting. Now I have called around to a couple of places in the Philadelphia area and none of the garages seemed to know of any problems but they also admitted they have not tinted any '04 Maxima's as of yet. I want tint really bad as I saw a Red Opulence (official color) SE with tints and it looks amazingly legit. But since the jury is still out on whether or not it affects the GPS I am, to say the least, a little hesitant to do such.

If anyone has any information about this problem (in addition to or in opposition of the views in the above linked thread) please let me know.

Very, very nice...well worth the effort...
Don't know about the "metalized tint" I have had the 3M dark 35% max allowed by law in Memphis, all around, have not noticed any loss of signal from the GPS icon except underpasses and such which, according to the manual can be expected.

Enjoy The Ride...

Great looking car. I actually wanted the burnt orange, the the wife did not. She won. These Maximas do look great when cleaned and waxed. I kinda like the Maxima lettering above the display. A better pic would be great.

A day late and a dollar short...

Sorry I can't provide a better pic of the Maxima lettering above the Nav screen...already took the letters off. What I did was use the lettering that I removed from the trunk and used double-sided tape to adhere it to the space above the screen. It might not look that bad if one were to use glue to attach the lettering but in this case the raised lettering looked rather cheap. That and I think I am cross-eyed because all the letters were slightly misaligned and unevenly spaced.

They would look better stuck to your tool box.

Just one question about the lettering, it comes off as individual letters it looks like, instead of one connected word. That seems like it would be tough to put the lettering somewhere else. I was thinking about how you had put the letters above the screen, anyone think it would look good up on the little pop-down sunglasses holder, near the sunroof. The other thing i was thinking was putting the letters on my new sub box I built for the trunk. Your thoughts on where the "MAXIMA" letters would look good inside the car?

Your Max looks great. There's 2 cars that i think look great in this colour. The Max and the 350Z.
