factory motor oil

What kind of motor oil is the 04 delivered with? I'm down half a quart at 1100 miles and don't want to switch brands until the first recommended change at about 3500.

People I respect say that frequent oil changes in a new car will delay break-in. Any thoughts?

Let me add that my 500 and 1500mi change is with dino oil, then I change over to MOBIL-1 at the 3000 change. I have used this method for many NEW ENGINES over the years and I am very pleased with the results.

I switch to Mobil 1 at around 1000 on all my cars. Modern engines don't need much of a break-in. If you are not using oil, then the rings have seated. Mobil says you can use Mobil 1 right from the get go. I believe it. None of my cars have ever used much if any oil between changes.

I think the reason Nissan says to run your car easy for 1200 miles or so it to break-in not only the engine (which like I said, is most likely broken in at the factory) but the transmission, drive-train, tires, brakes, shocks, springs, etc.
