Heated Steering Wheel Question

For those of you with the heated steering wheel, has anyone noticed that when you turn it on, it heats up real fast, but then it seems to get to a point and then fade? Like, I'll flip mine on, and literally within a minute it's real real hot, I like it, but then the heat seems to fade, as if it turned itself off, but the orange light on the button is still on. So I tried turning it off and then on again, but that didn't seem to do anything. The only time I can get it to heat back up again is when I turn the car off and then back on again. However, I haven't really tested it over a long interval of time, so that part may be false, but it's just what I've noticed.

Any help would be appreciated - I like it, I just wish it would stay hot. Is it supposed to function this way?

Yes. I think it's normal. Kinda works like a thermostat. If the steering wheel is already warm, say in the summer, or after it has been on and heated up, the heat will shut off and not go on again until the wheel cools. If you leave the button on for a while, it will heat up again by itself and when it gets to a certain temperature, it will shut off again (even though the light on the button is still on).

The heated steering wheel system is designed to operate only when the surface temperature of the steering wheel is below approximately 68°F (20°C).

If the surface temperature of the steering wheel is below 68°F (20°C), the system will heat the steering wheel to approximately 86°F (30°C), then turn off automatically.

Okay, figured it might be something normal like that - As long as I know it's working as intended that's all I need :P

Thanks.

What about the seats?

My steering wheel heats up fast, but my two front seats don't, if at all. I think I must have a problem. The manual does not say anything about a thermostat setting of 68F like the steering wheel, so I assume that when you turn it on, it whould work. I tried it on a cool day, and nothing.
Anyone have problems with the heated seats?

The seats are also on a thermostat, it takes mine about 4 minutes to fully warm up and then it turns off and on as needed.

It does take a few minutes for the seats to warm up. The steering wheel is quicker.

Obviously the seats won't feel as warm if you have more layers of clothes on. I also find that the seat is only heated about half way up the back. Not that I'm complaining. Its a great feature!
