Busted windshield

I was at work on Friday, and when I went out to my car to go to lunch, I noticed the windshield was cracked. It looked like there were two points of impact a few inches apart which had spiderwebbed about 4 inches out each, with about 4 spokes each. When I left work at 7 or so, the crack had propagated about a third of the way across the windshield!

What do you usually do in a situation like this? My comp deductible is (stupidly) $1000, so I don't think I'll claim it. I've heard there's some special clause in policies for glass or something. It wouldn't be under warranty, would it? Grrrr...

It's not under warranty. Some insurances will cover your windshields for no cost, most will not. Chances are, you are going to have to cover it out of pocket.

Sure I can afford it, but... man, it's a pain in the **** to pay $500 out of pocket for something random, since i have NO idea how it happened. What a bummer

Does your employer have surveillance cameras in the parking lot? If so, could shed some light on what happened.

I've got a crack in my glass too. I looked into the cost of replacement. I got two quotes back, $450 and $600CDN. So it should be 300-400US to have it replaced.

I had to replace my windshield within the first month of ownership I was surprised that it only cost me around $200 for the replacement. The glass shop had to order the new windshield from Nissan.

Wow thats not bad at all.

I think the windshield on the 04 is pretty fragile. I know I'll be replacing at least one in the next few years.
