Rattle in arm rest

Has anyone noticed a rattle coming from the arm rest that sits between the driver and front passenger? It only rattles when the arm rest is extended or in the raised position. I've also noticed that the arm support , when raised, seems very flimsy...it shifts back and forth very easily. Think that it may need to be tightened down??

Thanks for the help.

Yeah. Mines pretty solid. No shifting in it. Take it in for service.

It's the armrest button vibrating up and down. I had my armrest replaced because it would not latch properly, and on the new one, the button has much tighter tolerances.

It isn't the button but the whole arm rest. When it is raised the arm rest can be freely moved back and forth (jiggled). So, if your arm is not resting on it, it will rattle. The problem with the button is that it takes several attempts to close as if the button is not catching

That was exactly my problem, and I had the whole thing replaced under warranty. My center console is good now.

Mine only closes easily if you press on the REAR section. Put pressure anywhere else and you really have to hammer it.

Are you talking about the '03 or '04 Max? I am not aware the armrest extends in my '04 though it did in my '00. I did have to slam the lid a couple times to engage the catch in the lowered position on the '00.

There is a wide button on the front of the armrest. Press this and the armrest will extend up.
