I've noticed in some of these posts in the 6th gen forum that the 6th gen owners have mixed reviews of their '04s, some very happy, some having a few problems but nothing too serious, and some ending up w/ lemons. From what I can gather it's pretty much a luck of the draw. From time to time every carmaker will have an occasional lemon, even a Mercedes-Benz S Class and/or a BMW 7 Series can be a lemon. Personally I'd take the quality and reliabilty of a Nissan any day over a GM, Ford or even Chrysler (and you guys thought Nissan is making cheap interiors, look at any GM car & a Ford inside, they're the ones who always get slammed for interior quality by the presses and car magazines). To those who got max's as lemons and I feel for ya, there's the lemon law to protect us and here is a good place to discuss any frustrations, esp w/ dealer actions and get advice on what to do in such a case.
