Are all 6th Gen Made in USA?

I was wondering if all the 6th GEn cars were still made in the US or does nissan still produce some in Japan?

When I was first looking for my Maxima my local dealer said that their inventory was low because they still had to import them from Japan... the same dealership also told another customer that turning the rotors won't make them warp any faster. I've always thought they were all made in the USA, though.

To my knowledge, they're all made in Smyrna Tennessee.

The sales manager at my dealer told me that Nissan in the past was notorious for overproducing cars. the cars would sit on a lot and the prices cut in order to move them nobody made any money this way.

Nissan lowered the supply to increase the demand. Since the damand is higher they dont have to discount them. I had to get another color so I wouldnt have to wait 2 months to get mine.

This leads to the confusision. A lot of the salesmen and managers haven't heard this, or if they did it just went out their other ear. I too was told by the Fleet Manager that my car was built in Japan. Supposively it was on a ship from Japan when I talked to him. 3 Days later when I talked to my salesman, it was on a train car that would be in route Portland Oregon within the week. But, I jumped out of that deal and got my Elite Packaged from a different location, instead. They still have the car that I ordered sitting on there lot, almost 4 months later. I'm sure they aren't too happy about that. The few Max's they've sold are all the really cheap ones without leather. I don't think they have very many people that can afford/want the Navigation.

'04's are supposed to be made in Tennesse. But, Nissan is still working to make that plant ready to make them. In the meantime all the Max's are still being made in Japan and shipping them over by boat. I work at a Nissan dealer and thats what I was told by my rep. Also, I checked on a customer order the other day and it said on sea transit. Which basically means it was on a boat yet. Hope this helps.

if it was make in japan why is the vin number starting with 1 and not with JN. ANY vin # starts that with a number is american made. any letter that starts in vin is over seas made. BTW JN stand for japan. also fire wall sould say where is it made in.

Exactly, Maximas no longer make the 6,000 mile crossing to LA they are all made in TN.

For the first time, Maxima is assembled in the United States, at Nissan’s award-winning manufacturing facility in Smyrna, Tenn. The new Maxima went on sale at more than 1,100 Nissan dealers nationwide starting in March 2003.

And there is not a single Maxima built in Japan anymore because all of the VINs start with a "1" which means BUILT IN USA. Go shoot your "rep". I guess these "reps" instruct their salespeople to lie to fuel sales or something?

Absolutely incorrect. Every '04 Maxima sold in the US is made in the US. I've already toured their plant...

As usual, dealer salesmen and managers do not know what the hell they are talking about...

Maybe you guys should read the Org's home page, it says where they are made, so there shouldn't even be a question. Check the Vin number anyway, that helps too.

I work at a dealership in Houston (no it's not a Nissan dealer) and I can tell you to never listen to anything that comes out of a salesperson's mouth. A sale is a sale is a sale.

The phone number for setting up tours is (615)459-1444. I know that certain times they shut down all the tours of the plant. (Like when they were rolling the Max's off before they were released) Right now might be a good time before they start the production of the Pathfinder, because I'll bet they stop doing the tours until they are launched. If you decide you want to set one up and need directions, just holler.
